HomeMy WebLinkAbout1943-08-231 �I 1 PLANNING BOARD MEETING August 23, 1943 A meeting of the Planning Board was held at the Town Office Building on Monday, August 23, 1943 with Messrs. Greeley, Nickerson, Ferguson, Richards, and Cromwell. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. The Planning Board met with the Selectmen and submitted "The Planning Board's Report to the Selectmen on Postwar Work." This was dated August 22, 1943, Postwar Copies were given to the Selectmen and one retained Planning for the files. The Selectmen displayed particular interest in the Great Meadows project, the housing of fire apparatus and surface drainage. They suggested that preliminary steps be taken toward improving surface drainage in the town, possibly including a survey of one major section to serve as a pattern for the others. They suggested that the engineers department might be able to pay for this themselves. A report bearing the title "Postwar Planning", dated June 8, 1943, prepared by Mr. Paxton was received by the Board to be filed. Mr. Myerson's bill for $50. was approved. It was voted to pay not over $25, to compensate an individual to be selected by Mr. Couette for preparing comparative records of property sales and assessed values. Mr. Richards was asked to see Mr. Couette about this. Mr. Myerson Assessed Valuations Mr. Ferguson advised the Board that Mr. Paul Great Dempsey knew of no scientific tests that had been Meadows made of peat in the Great Meadows. Mr. Dempsey had said, however, that the peat is being used by farmers and has distinct soil value. Mr. Ferguson reported that he had become informed Polygonum on methods of eradicating or controlling polygonum and poison ivy. Reih tfl#tr Rrd".mwe erk
