May 25, 1942
A regular meeting of the Planning Board was held at the
Town Office Building on Monday, May 25th, with Messrs. Greeley,
Kimball , Nickerson and Worthen present. Mr. Kimball was
elected Temporary Clerk and the minutes of the last meeting
were approved.
Action on a substitute for the Tenement House Act was
discussed and the Clerk was directed to communicate with Tenement
Mr. R. B. Greeley, Miss Herlihy, and the National Board of House
Fire Underwriters in an effort to obtain a "model" for Act
consideration.
Mr. Worthen has talked with Boy Scout officials re-
garding the "tent caterpillars" situation and reported that Tent
past experience has shown a lack of cooperation even to the Cater-
extent of direct opposition by citizens to such scout activi- pillars
ties. Mr. Garrity states that due to the curtailed appro-
priation, he will be unable to do more than roadside spraying
but is not too apprehensive of prominent damage by the "Tent
variety since they operate in cycles and this year is one of the
peaks and that furthermore they are somewhat self-destructive.
The subject is considered as closed.
The advantages of equalizing the precinct representation
in Town Meeting membership by means of the "Standard Form of Town
Representative Town Meeting Government" by discussed, and a Meeting
letter drafted to the Selectmen outlining the various sug- Form
gestions that while the Board believes the "Standard Form"
provides the means for meeting the changing conditions of the
Town, it is recommended that the present form be continued
for the duration of the war.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 P. M.
The next meeting will be subject to call.
Acting Clerk
