HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-10-14�J THE PLANNING BOARD idEETING October 14, 1941 A re,mzlar meeting of the Planning Board was held on Tuesday, October 14th in the Town Office Building at 7;30 P.M. Messrs. Kimball, ITickerson, Newhall and Ellis were present. Mr. Kimball presided in the absence of Mr. Greeley. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as presented. Mr. Kimball reported that Mr. Coleman of L.J. Reynolds office had none over this matter with him and Mr. Greeley, Property Coleman acting in the interests of an interested prospect. Off The Clerk was instructed to write to the Board of Selectmen Woburn that a rough plan of this area had been submitted to the Street Town Engineer, acting on Mr. 71rightington's suggestion that an intelligible plan be drawn for the benefit of the engineer at the Land Court. furthermore, a discussion of the possibili- ties of using this area for future playground development, as suggested by Supt. Garrity, resulted in the recommendation that the land be sold if possible, proceeds to be set aside for future purchase of land in a more suitable location, preferably nearer Lowell Street. The present development along Woburn Street is such that playground. facilities at the High and 14unroe Schools should be adequtte. A copy of this letter will go to Mr. Wrightington. A letter was read from the Selectmen asking for a member of the Planning: Board to serve on a committee to advise the Tax Selectmen in connection with offers received by the Town for Titles property acquired by foreclosure of tax title. The Board voted that 4r. Kimball or Mr. Worthen act on this committee. 1)lr. Kimball reported progress re: change of area from Change of Winthrop Road along Mass. Avenue on west side as far as Wallis Zoning Court from C1 to Rl. The Baptist Church has indicated will- ingness to back this project but prefers we initiate the move. Since Form A has been returned by but one department head, nothing further can be done until the departments take Budget further action. Mr. Nickerson reported having; taken tle matter of re- viewing street signs up with the Chamber of Commerce but has Street not had any response from that organization as yet. Mr. Custance Signs has advised that he would discuss this plan at the next meeting of the Chamber of Commerce directors. The next meeting will be held Monday, October 27, at 7:30 P. M.
