June 9, 1941
A regular meeting of the Planning Board was held at the
Town Office Building on h'_onday, June 9, 1941. All the
members were present. The minutes of the previous meeting
were read and approved.
Mr. Greeley reported having attended a meeting of the
Chamber of Commerce at which the parking and traffic situa-
tion was further discussed.
The Board attended the hearing held by the �3oard of
Selectmen in connection with the petition of Scott Realty
Company to demolish the Central Block and build a new
structure, same to be set back 25 feet more or less to con-
form with the new proposed building line for Massachusetts
Avenue. The Planning Board, together with the Town Counsel,
"Jr. S. R. PJrightington, was commissioned to place the exact
location of this neiri line with relation to present and
former street lines.
It was later determined that the original vote, passed
at an adjourned Town I:leeting held April 8, 1929, Article 28,
' provided that the Town sell to Scott the entire frontage to
a depth of 25 feet for '-30,000. This vote was rescinded at
a meeting held December 2, 1930, Article 7.
It was decided that T.1r. Greeley would ask Town Engineer
Cosgrove to furnish the Board with a map or maps, showing
the nroposed new building line in front of the Central Block
on both sides of I%"assachusetts Avenue, same to be extended
through the Buckman Tavern property as far as the Common.
The matter was continued until such time as that map might
be ready.
The meeting was adjourned at 9;45 P. P.R. until Monday,
June 23rd, 1941,
