Old Business
The Clerk reported a letter from Mr. Roger D. Swaim, Clerk
of the Concord Planning Board, asking for detailed advice and
Master
Information on making a master plan. Mr. Kimball consented to
Plan
answer this request with complete information.
A letter was received from Mr. Nickerson, of the Board,
stating that he had on Jan. 12 attended a meeting in Concord at
Mr. Hoar's residence, representing the Board. The purpose of
the meeting was to devise some method of convincing the govern-
Airport
ment to locate the proposed airport in some other location than
Bedford or Concord. The concensus of the meeting was that the
thinking people of the three communities were opposed to locat-
ing an airport in these towns, but that popular opinion would
be for such an airport. Mr. hoar, Mr. Giroux, and others, were
to contact Senator Lodge, Gov. Saltonstall, and the gentlemen
in charge of Airports for the government, and try to convince
'
them that the Bedford and Concord location would be too expen-
sive on account of the peat base of the land, and that either
Sudbury or Marlboro would be a cheaper location.
