I
September 30, 1940.
A meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Town
Office Building, at 7:30 P. M. Messrs. Greeley; Kimball,
Ferguson and Nickerson present.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
The Clerk was directed to write the Board of Selectmen
as follows:
"The Planning Board is of the opinion that no sign
should be permitted in excess of 3 ft, in height Signs
for the total over all height of the sign." A vote
was held to this effect supplementing our pre-
vious 2 ft. recommendation.
The Manning Board was requested to appear before the
Board of Selectmen and the Town Counsel for the purpose of
discussing a proposed road from Vine Brook Road to Mass. Proposed
Avenue directly over Vine Brook and on the property of the Road
Colonial Garage. The Planning Board expressed itself as of
the opinion that such a road was not required and was not
' desirable. The Planning Board presented a prepared plan
showing its solution of outlets from the area, the develop-
ment of which caused the proposed road location to be discussed.
The area in question is the land of the Ryder estate to the
west of Vine Brook Road and extending nearly to Marrett Road.
There is an outlet for traffic toward Boston through an ex-
isting street, an outlet to Waltham Street by Winthrop Road
Extension and a road to Vine Brook Road for traffic directed
toward Lexington Center, and a solution of the parking problem
thereby created by a proposed purchase of land back of the
Co-operative Bank for a parking area. A plan of this parking
area is filed with this report.
The next meeting will be Monday.. Oct. 14th at 7:30 P.M.
Meeting adjourned.
