PLANNING BOARD MEETING.
JUNE 240 1940
A regular meeting of the Planning Board was held Monday
June 24, 1940 at 7:30 P.M. in the Town Office Building.
Messrs. Greeley, Ferguson, Nickerson, Ellis and Worthen were
present.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as
received.
The Clerk was instructed to obtain the Scout plottings
of street numbers, this work having been reported as completed.
The Clerk was instructed to communicate with the special
committee of the Chamber of Commerce asking the return of
this Board's report, that we may proceed with further study.
Messrs. Morang and Rand appeared before the Board with
a 1't = 40t layout of streets and lots comprising Lexington
Ridge, the development off Burlington Street. This totals
some seventy lots, of a minimum of 15,000 feet, with the
steepest road grade at 10%. The Board advised the Board of
Survey that the layout in general was to be recommended for
their approval, with the exception of the fact that there
seems to be no provision for future connection to main sewer.
The Board suggested the purchase of an easement, roughly to
the north-east,to provide for this.
The Clerk is to communicate with Supt. Paxton of the
Highwa Division (in reply to his answer to this Board's
letter stating that we wish to meet with him some time in
the near future.
The major portion of the meeting was given over to dis-
cussion of the apartment house article, toward a decision
on the Boardta recommendation to the Town Meeting to be held
July lat. The Chairman read a letter from the Town Counsel
on the status of the present zoning law amendment with res-
pect to the Attorney -General.
A preliminary favorable report was reviewed by the Board,
and suggestions and changes were incorporated therein.
It was moved and seconded, that the Planning Board dis-
approve of an R.3 status for the property in question. The
motion was lost.
It was moved and seconded that the Planning Board
recommend favorable action on the article, submitting the
report as drawn up. Two members dissenting, the motion was
' carried by a 2/3 vote, and the report will be presented to
the Town Meeting as a majority report.
