APRIL 15, 1940.
A regular meeting of the Planning Board was held Monday.
April 15 at 7:30 P.M. in the Town Office Building. All
members were present except Mr. Ferguson and Mr. Ellis,
Mr. Kimball reported that the Selectmen have voted to
assign to this Board, the Highway Department office (second Meeting
floor) for its regular meetings. They recommend that a place.
sign be placed only when the Board is to hold a meeting.
This is confirmed by letter.
Mr. Kimball, reporting for Mr. Ellis, stated that
approval had been given to the location of a bulletin board,

the space assigned being on the first floor, between the

entrance door and the door to the ladies' room.
A questionnaire from the State Planning Board(member-
ship, status of Board, etc.) has been received and returned
accordingly by the Clerk.

The following bills were approved for payment:

Mr. Leslie Ryder appeared before the Board with Mr.
Rowland H. Barnes, C. E. of Newton and Waltham, to present
proposed subdivisions of land for comment by the Planning
Board.
The first area considered was land bounded by Vine
Brook Road, Waltham St. and Highland Ave., southwest to
Ryder
Kendall Road (Lexington Estates Trust). The development of
property
this land was compared with the Steiner study (North and
South branches of Vine Brook) to ascertain in what respects
the proposal conformed to the aims of the Planning Board
or in what ways it might be an improvement.
In connection with this land, the Board agreed to meet
Saturday, April 20 at 3 P.M. for the purpose of looking over
the tract to co -relate it to the topo maps and plat.
The second area presented for consideration by Mr.
Ryder was a proposed layout of land bounded by Marrett Road,
Spring Street, Shade Street and Cary Avenue.
The third area reviewed was the Cutler Farm property
(Clarent Cutler Estate) being land bounded by the Concord
Turnpike, old Shade Street, Spring Street and Grassland
Street.

Plan Sherman Street, was interviewed by the Board in connection I with this work.
Hearing April 26 (Friday) at 8 P.M. Meet at 7130
for discussion.
Next meeting Monday, April 29, at 7130 P.M.
The meeting adjourned at 10 P.M.
