A regular meeting of the Planning Board was held
Friday. April 5 (postoned from April 1) at 7:30 P.M. in
the Town Office Building. All members were present except
Mr. Nickerson.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved
as received.
In regard to the petition of Mr. Viano, the Clerk
turned over to the Chairman a letter from the Town Counsel
concerning the legal aspect of letters received by the Torn
Clerk from individuals in the designated area, requesting
that their names be removed from the petition. For the
reasons stated in this letter, the Town Counsel advised the
Board to proceed with a hearing. The Board also received
the certification of this petition from the Board of
Assessors.
It was moved, and so voted, that a hearing be called
for Friday, April 26, at 8 P.M. in the Selectmenfs Office
and that the property owners be so advised by registered
mail and that due notice be published in the"Lexington
Minute -man".
In regard to the work of mapping the property list-
ings, the Chairman spoke of the difficulties of locating
houses and property without sufficient information as to the
street number locations, and stated that he had suggested
this work as a Scout project with Mr. Dana T. Norris, who
accepted. The Clerk was instructed to confirm this
conversation and to turn an 8001 map of the town over to
Mr. Norris to be cut up into sections and numbers of street`
corners and intersections noted in order that by inter-
polation the plotting on the final map may be completed.
Mr. Kimball brought up the desirability of a Master
Plan, and his suggestions were favorably received. A
list of possible data comprising the base map, as well as
proposed future planning, with a key, was turned over to
the Chairman, and it was the opinion -of the Board that
the final map be at a scale of 800' x 1". The Chairman
agreed to investigate the possibility of having the work
compiled and plotted by a local engineer or draftsman, if
possible. It was moved and so voted, that the expense shall
not exceed fifty dollars for the Master Plan to be
completed according to the scheme outlined by Mr. Kimball.
Mr. Greeley spoke of the town planning project, invi-
tation to which has been accepted by about 16 New England
High School teachers to date. In order to cooperate with

several suggestions for timely projects, any one of which '
of these three local planning problems would be desirable
for the students to elect:

2. Re -zoning of Town.
3. Development of the Great Meadows.
In reporting on the display case(bulletin board) Mr.
Ellis mentioned that he had written the Selectmen for
permission, and to date no answer has been received. Mr.
Ellis agreed to turn over to the High School manual training
class, details of such a case, to be built by them, but
the materials to be paid for by the Board.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 15,
