Johnson, of the Chamber of Commerce, the Board's Parking revised suggestions re: parking between Waltham and Muzzey study Streets, and that this Board is ready for their next meeting. Planning Board Organization. The Chairman presented an outline of duties of the individual members, which were accepted, in an effort to simplify and clarify the work which is performed by the Planning Board. Organization Mr. Ferguson: Contacts outside Lexington; Mass. Federation of Planning Boards; State and Metropolitan Planning Boards; New England Regional Board; other ' meetings and conferences* A meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Town Office Building, Monday, March 18, at 7:30 P.M. All members were present. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as received. The Clerk presented a letter from Mr. Lunt, Chairman Request for of the Planning Board of Carlisle, requesting information information in regard to the control of piggeries. Inasmuch as this re: is not a matter of zoning, but of public.health, the Clerk piggeries was instructed to contact the Town Counsel, (as well as Mr. Lunt) asking him to forward to Mr. Lunt citations of decisions rendered in litigation here in Lexington. It was moved to turn over the check in favor of Fletcher W. Taft, dated Jan. 11; 1940 in the sum of $30.00, Property to the Town Treasurer. Mr. Taft has advised the Board listings that there will be no charge for his services in connection with the property listings, for which this check was issued, and he therefor returned the check. ' It was moved to turn the listings over to Mr. Greeley, to complete the work, consisting of plotting the data on a map. Mr. Greeley was empowered to spend up to $30.00 to complete this project. Mr. Kimball volunteered to see that the data is properly assembled and to supervise the preliminary map work and method of presentation. Mr. Ellis reported that he had delivered to Mr. F. K. ' Mr. Ellis: Organization of data for plans and reports; graphs. Mr. Kimball: Preparation of plans; Town Meetings and hearings procedure. Mr. Worthen: Files and correspondence, including plan files; Duties of Clerk and Librarian. Mr. Greeley: Education; presentation of reports; presiding at meetings. It was suggested that a number of reference maps might well be displayed by the Planning Board, of interest to the public, possibly in the minor corridor of the Reference second floor. maps - Maps likely to prove most useful: display. Occupancy Vacant property Zoning (public property shown) Air Photo Map of Town Mr. Ellis was instructed to determine a way in which several or all of these maps might be permanently displayed and protected properly, the approximate coat of thin under- taking, and the permission of the Selectmen to do so. Meeting Mr. Kimball was designated to ask the Selectmen to ' Room make a definite room assignment as a meeting place for the Board; also to arrange for a suitable sign to designate such room,. Mr. Kimball was asked to write the Selectmen, calling Town their attention to the Town Meeting Map in the auditorium Meeting stage of Cary Hall,stating that this Board is no longer Map. responsible for the map since it passed out of our hands, and that an inspection of the ropes supporting it should be made to make certain that it is properly secured. Mr. Ellis presented, with comment, layouts (from Ryder preceding meeting) of lots on Ryder property off Waltham property. Street and Park Drive, The Clerk was instructed to return the prints to Mr. T. A. Custa nce, suggesting that the owner deed to the Town the land on the corner of the lot bounded by the two streets, thus giving a more sat- isfactory entrance from Waltham Street, The Board has no jurisdiction over the lots fronting on Park Drive, and in out judgment, the construction of a dead-end street (to the third lot) as shown, is not desirable. Article 28 of the Annual Warrant was brought up. It Sunday was the opinion of the Planning Board, should a request be ' movies. made on the Town Meeting floor, that moving pictures on Sundays would create a parking problem. Wftile not properly a question for this Board to pass upon, it is considered that some provision would have to be made for ' private parking to keep care off Mass. Avenue, which would impede the heavy through traffic on Sunday evenings. Article 23 of the Annual Warrant was brought up. In case the question of a road from Muzzey to Clarke Streets Lot on should be brought up on the floor, the Planning Board Clarke St. volunteers the statement that a study has been made of this street, and it considers such a street unnecessary. It was so moved, as the Board's opinion, that the Town should purchase the lot in question for purposes of parking or such ultimate use of the Library, but not for the purpose of a street. Article 34 of the Annual Warrant was brought up. If Viano no hearing has been held on this matter, the Planning Board property will ask for indefinite postponement of the article at the Annual Meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
