HomeMy WebLinkAbout1939-09-25P, 1 PLANNING BOARD MEETING SEPTEMBER 25, 1939. A meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Town Office Building on September 25th, at 8 P. M. All members present, except Mr. Kimball. Mr. Chapin, M.I.T. studen of town planning, was em- ployed by the Board to make studies this summer, the results of which were presented at this meeting as followss (1) A 1" - 100t scale map of proposed future connecting of present town property at the playground, Aldrich estate, town dump and old reservoir. (2) A booklet survey of the area between Waltham Street and Muzzey Street adjadent to the business zone. This sur- vey was made with an eye to future parking facilities in this area. (3) A 1" - 1001 scale map of Great Meadows. This map was made so we would be prepared with definite plans for creating a pond area if the opportunity should arise. The Clerk was instructed to file this data for future reference. Aldrich Estate Parking, Great Meadows Mr. Ferguson,as committee, reported progress in studying methods of reducing speed of auto traffic in Lex- Traffic ington, It was voted that Mr. Ferguson convey to the control Selectmen that the Planning Board was in favor of enforcing the State speed laws in this town. Mr. Worthen reported some response from the banks in providing listings of property for sale which the Board requested in line with efforts to be prepared to advise intelligently when new public utilities were requested. Mr. Wrightington, Town Counsel, visited the meeting to see if the Board would vote to pursue the Loam Removal Loam Case to the State Supreme Court. VOTED That the Planning Stripping Board is unanimously in favor of the town prosecuting this case to the Mass. Supreme Court, Next Meeting, Monday, October 9th, at 8 P. M.
