HomeMy WebLinkAbout1939-06-22u 1 1 PLANNING BOARD MEETING JUNE 22, 19 39 . A meeting of the Planning Board was held on June 22, 1939, at 8 P. M. The full Board was present. The Selectmen have been concerned with the fact that loam is being stripped from 52 acres of land owned by the Arlington Five Cents Savings Bank on Lincoln Street. That Board through the Town Counsel, tried to obtain a restraining injunction but obtained an adverse decision from Judge Williams. The Planning Board has been asked to meet with the Selectmen, Monday, June 26th, at 9 P. M. to advise with them as to whether the matter should be pushed to the State Supreme Court, it being understood that the cost would be between $200, and $300, It was voted: That the Planning Board believes it desirable to get a ruling from the Supreme Court as to whether our By-law affecting loam removal is of any effect. Mr. Greeley was asked to get some advice from Mr. Hartman as to whether he could give us data to assist the Selectmen in their effort to prevent said loam removal. Mr. Ellis was asked to consult with Mr. Gilbert Small, Wayland engineer and Planning Board member, it being known that Wayland stopped or partially stopped a similar raid upon loam, Loam Stripping It was voted: That the Clerk prepare for signature of the Board, a report on the hearing of May 18th, 1939, rel- Apartment ative to change in the Zoning By-law and Map to create an Houses R.3 or apartment house zone, said report having been prepared by Mr. Kimball, read to the Board, supplemented and approved.
