January 30, 1936
Present:- Messrs. Duffy, Borden, Ellis & Kimball.
A petition with accompanying signatures having been re-
ceived from Mr. Ernest DeVincent, it was voted that his peti-
tion to change an area from R.1 to C .1 be referred to Mr.
Spencer for verification of assessment valuations. Petitions
Telephone conversation developed that Mrs. Cutler is
to present her petition at an early date and it was voted that
the same action be accorded it.
Since it is possible that there may be other suggested
amendments, no definite action was taken toward setting dates
for hearings.
2/1/36 Note :- Mrs. Cutler 's petition was received by
the clerk and both petitions referred to Mr. Spencer.
Mr. Duffy reported advice from Mr. Merriam that the
plans for the Limited Apartment had not been approved and
that the proposed zoning changes would not be requested. It Limited
was moved that the Board take no further action on this sub- Apart-
ject and that the case be closed. ments
Due to illness and other reasons the Board of Select-
' men were unable to meet with the Plantt�ng Board to discuss
a proposed amendment covering the removal of sod, loam and
gravel. A joint meeting will be held on Tuesday, February
4th in the Selectmen's Room for this purpose. Further dis-
cussion of the advisability of action toward a special set-
back for the Concord Turnpike will also be brought before
this meeting.
A letter of resignation was received from Mr. Sheldon
A. Robinson Who is obliged to leave the Board through change
in residence . The Board expressed its regrets in losing the Membership:
valuable assistance, council and faithful attention to the
problems which Mr. Robinson has given.
It was voted to accept the resignation as of February
29, 1936.
A draft of a proposed by-law for billboards, as drawn
by the Massachusetts Billboard Law Defense Committee, was
received from the Board of Selectmen and was discussed brief-
ly. Advice by the Town Counsel leads the Board to feel that Billboards
the present Lexington By-Laws provide ample protection to
the Town against over-intrusion of billboards and it is our
recommendation to the Board of Selectmen that no action be
taken at pre sent .
