February 27, 1935
A regular meeting of the Planning Board was held in the
Conference Room of the Town office Building on Wednesday,
February 27, 1935, at 8:00 P. M. Messrs. Ellis, Duffy, Greeley,
Kimball and Robinson were present,
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
After discussion of the budget for 1935, it was decided
to support the Finance Committee's recommendation of $250.000
pending any communication to the contrary from Mr. Trask.
A letter from Town Counsel Wrightington was read, express-
ing the opinion that the School Committee could buy, fence in,
and charge admission to an athletic field.
Mr. Kimball reported that he had spoken to Mr. Wrighting-
ton about the error in the flown Warrant, and that Mr. Wrighting-
ton was going to write a letter to the Planning Board on this
subject.
The Clerk exhibited a blueprint from Mr. Thomas Kelley,
showing the plan of property at the intersection of East and Kelly
Lowell Streets, and showing proposed rounding of the corners Petition,
at this intersection, provided that his proposed zoning amend-
ment is passed.
A communication from the National Conference on City
Planning asking the Hoard to join that organization, at a cost
of $10.00, was read, discussed, and filed.
Mr. Duffy reported that the Reading Regional Board for
the Circumferential Highway had met at the Boston City Club
on February 25, 1935, with Messrs. Duffy and Kimball present
from Lexington. Mr. Haines of Reading was elected Chairman,
and appointed a sub -committee on protection. It was observed Ciroumfer-

Discussion was turned to Clematis Brook and the Cir- Highway
cumferential Highway, reference being mads to the maps of the
Engineering Department and the map upon which Mr. Kimball is
putting the topography of the Town. Mr. Duffy favored the re-
cent proposal that the Circumferential pass to the East of the
Cambridge Reservoir. A link between the Cambridge -Concord
Highway and the Circumferential at Bedford Street was discussed
but showed some difficulties in location due to topography and
existing street locations.
The Clerk was instructed to write Mr, Cosgrove in regard
' to topographic surveys of the region to be traversed by the
Circumferential near the Simonds estate, and near the Bluffs,
