HomeMy WebLinkAbout1934-10-30 PLANNING BOARD MEETING October 30,1934 IA regular meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Conference Room of the Town Office Building on Wednesday, Oct- ober 30, 1934 at 7:45 P . M. Messrs. Duffy, Greeley, Kimball and Robinson were present. The minutes of the October 5th meeting were read and accepted. It was observed that the meeting called for October 19th had been postponed because there would have been only three members present and because Mr. Cosgrove had not yet prepared the desired information. After a short discussion of a possible candidate to fill the vacancy caused by Mr. Glynn's resignation, it was decided Ellis to call the Board of Selectmen in, and to present to them the Appointment Planning Board's choice . This was done, and in a joint meeting Mr. Lester F. Ellis was appointed to serve until the next Town Meeting. Mr. Duffy reported that the Regional Board had met with seine of the State Commissioners, and had received some sort of encouragement from them, although the details of that meeting I were of a confidential nature, Letters were read from a Mrs. Gafrield of West Concord and from a Mrs. White of South Boston, both asking for a variance in the interpretation of the Zoning By-Law as it applied to the property at 259 Bedford Street. There was also read a notice from the Board of Appeals in regard to a hearing to be held on November 2, 1934 in regard to this property. Mr. Maddison appeared before the Board, explained the situation as he under- stood it, and offered to answer the communications. Discussion of the MilMnan property resulted in further expression of the fact that the Planning Board could do nothing until it gets some definite proposals, on paper, from the Town Mullican Engineer. Mr. Trask appeared before the Board and suggested that the delay on the part of Mr. Cosgrove had been intentional, Property and that there was no need for action by the Planning Board, at least for the present. Discussion of Mr. Custance's proposed treatment of the Ryder Vine Brook property was similarly postponed by Mr. Trask's advice that it was no longer imminent. Mr. Trask explained the status of ERA work in the Town, pointing out that, as it was only very indefinite as far as the allotment of funds was concerned, there was no opportunity to embark on any large scale construction programs at the present. Meeting -2- October 30,1934 1 However, he did feel that the Board might present some suggestion for the treatment of Clematis Brook, after it is widened and Clematis straightened. The Board offered to do that, and Mr. Trask said Brook he would ask the Town Engineer to prepare plana. The meeting adjourned at 10:15 P . M. Respectfully submitted, Roland B. Greeley (Signed) Clerk SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PLANNING BOARD AND THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN OF LEXINGTON October 30, 1934 A special meeting of the Planning Board and the Board of Selectmen was held in the Conference Room of the Town Office Building on Tuesday, October 3O, 1934, about 9:00 P. M., in the middle of a Planning Board Meeting. Messrs. Ferguson, Lyons, O'Connell, and Trask of the Board of Selectmen, and Messrs. Duffy, Greeley, Kimball, and Robinson of the Planning Board were present. Mr. Duffy called the meeting to order and explained that the purpose was to appoint a member of the Planning Board to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. C. Edward Glynn. He stated that the Planning Board had discussed the matter, and was prepared to suggest the name of Mr. Lester P. Ellis Ellis. He also stated that Mr. Ellis had signified his willing- ness to be considered.After a short discussion, Mr. Lyons nominated Mr. Ellis Appoint- for the position; Mr. Kimball seconded the nomination. As no dissenting votes were heard, the Clerk was instructed to notify meet the Town Clerk of Mr. Ellis is appointment. The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 P. M. Respectfully submitted, Roland B. Greeley (Signed) Clerk Subsequent to this meeting, the Chairman received a communication from Mr. Trask, stating that the Law required that the Selectmen be served due notice of such meetings, but that the Selectmen had consented to waive this requirement. He also pointed out that the Law provided that such a vacancy should be filled by the appointment of a member who would serve only until the next Town Meeting.
