July 12, 1934
IA meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Conference
Room of the Town Office Building on Thursday, July 12, 1934, at 8;18
P. M. Messrs. Duffy, Glynn, Greeley, Kimball, and Robinson were
pre sent.
The minutes of all regular meetings of the Board from March
9, 1934 to June 21, 1934, were read by the Clerk and approved by
the Board.
Consideration of the petition of John H. Millican of 1
Burlington Street for a new road from Burlington Street to Adana
Street showed that nothing could be done by the Board until a Millican
comprehensive plan of the whole area was prepared, giving special
attention to the drainage, sewerage, and aeoess of the area. The
Clerk was instructed to write the Board of Selectmen to that
effect.
The Clerk was instructed to communicate with Mrs. Cutler Cutler
in regard to her petition for a change in zoning along the new Petition
State Highway.
Mr. Duffy, in reporting the Regional Planning Board Meet-
ing, said that Messrs. Giles Smith of Belmont, Sumner Smith of
Lincoln, Herbert Dutcher of Arlington, and Reginald Morgan of
II Concord had attended; that the work of the Westchester County Concord
Park Commission had been cited and discussed; that concerted,
unified action was necessary on the part of all the Towns con- Highway
corned; that the Concord Planning Board had received and denied
several petitions for zoning changes, in spite of the fact that
the Concord Board of Selectmen apparently favored some of the
changes.
Mr. Duffy suggested that the best procedure was to have
prepared a use and zoning map of the area affected by the high-
way, which map would show existing business uses and tilling
stations within a mile of the highway, as well as appreciable
differences in elevation, such as outs and fills of over 5,1 .
He reported that the Engineer of the Metropolitan Planning Board
had been asked to prepare such a map.
Mr. Glynn suggested that all business might be located on
loop spurs off the main highway.
` Mr. Duffy presented the idea of community marts in place
of many wayside stands.
Mr. Glynn raised the possibility of uniform architectural
style for all wayside stands.
It was shown that the work of the Regional Board should be
done as expeditiously as possible, in order to prepare the several
Planning Boards for the barrage of petitions that would soon be
presented.
IComments followed on the general layout of the highway,
especially as regarded the deep cut between Waltham and Blossom
Streets.
Planning Board Meeting 462- July 12., 1934
Mr. Greeley brought up the question of the proposed Route
#128. Mr. Duffy suggested that the Board ask the Board of Select- Circum-
men to have maps prepared in anticipation of the layout of this ferenti
route, stating that such maps should follow up the survey commended al
last winter as a CBA project, Also, that similar plans and maps
should be prepared along new State Highway #2. The Clerk was in- Highway
struoted to write the Board of Selectmen to this effect.
The meeting adjourned at 10:25 P. M.
Respectfully submitted,
Roland B. Greeley, (signed)
Clerk
