HomeMy WebLinkAbout1933-05-09MEETING OF PLANNING BOARD I May 9, 1933 A meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Town Office Building on Tuesday evening, May 9, 19339 these members being present Messrs. Duffy, Glynn, Kimball, Milne, Scheibe, and Robinson; also Mr. Cosgrove and the secretary. TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEY, MAPLE AND LORELL STREET AREAS Mr. Cosgrove presented a reoently-completed topographical map of that section of the Town lying between Maple Street and Lowell Street; this being a part of a complete topographical map of the whole Town upon which the Engineering Department is at work. PRINTED FORMS FOR PETITIONS Mr. Robinson presented a draft of a form -letter, and of a blank petition for Zoning changes, which might be adopted for the use of petitioners. The matter was discussed in general but no aotion was taken. LIMITED EPARTMENT BUILDINGS At the request of the Board, Mr. Greeley appeared for the purpose of discussing the proposed Amendment establishing an R-3 Zone. He per- sonally considered the amendment fair, and practical from a working standpoint. He questioned the Board with respect to various items in the propoded amendment. Mr. Greeley further stated that the plot of land concerned in his project, now the property of the Cary Library, is a permanent open space which cannot be built upon, although it is for sale. Mr. Milne pointed out to Mr. Greeley that before the Planning Board brings this proposed Amendment before the Town, some assurance should be forthcoming that if the new zone is created as requested, P.B. Mtge 5/9/33 (2) the project in which Mr. Greeley to interested will actually be oarried out. The latter replied that it to practically impossible to obtain necessary financing until the zone has been legally established; he will, however, attempt to get the matter in definite form and report what the prospects may be. In the opinion of the Board, it is not justified in holding the necessary hearings, and entering the proposed amendment in a Town Warrant, until such prospects are reasonably certain. A few minor changes and corrections were made in the draft of the amendment, and the secretary was asked to send final copies to each of the members; also to send copies to Mr. Wrightington and to Mr. Hartman for such comment as they may care to make. HOUSE BILL #12140 Mr. Duffy called the attention of the Board to the fact that House Bill No. 12140 is in committee and will be reported soon. He had talked with Senator Joseph Cotton about it; and he urged the members to do all possible toward influencing its passage. HOME FOR AGED WOMEN Mr. Scheibe mentioned that under the will of some un -named person, funds had been provided for.the erection of an extensive Home for Aged Women; and the Trustees have considered many possible locations. He questioned whether such an institution would be acceptable in Lexington, and the Board decided informally that it would not be desirable. O'CONNELL PETITION FOR ZONING CHANGE A letter from Mr. D. J. O'Connell was read, asking that the Board again consider changing to a 0-1 Zone, the Woburn Street - Pletcher Ave- nue triangle. The Clerk was instructed to acknowledge the letter; but no further action was taker}. The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 o'clock. Clerk
