HomeMy WebLinkAbout1933-04-24MEETING OF PLANNING BOARD ' April 249 1933 A meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Town Office Building on Monday evening, April 24, 1933. Messrs. Duffy, Glynn, Kimball, and Milne were present, also the secretary. PROPOSED R-3 DISTRICTS Continuing this subject from the previous meeting, it was felt that Lexington will eventually be faced with the problem of suitable locations for apartment houses, and therefore ought to be prepared to meet it. Whatever policy is adopted, it should be sound and calculated to afford adequate protection to the Town in later years. Mr. Glynn expressed his opinion that unless the Planning Board believes thoroughly in the wisdom of the amendment it proposes, it should drop the matter for the present at least. Mr. Duffy recom- mended that the Board recognize the problem resulting from vacant, inclosed areas in certain sections of the Town, and should work out some means of making them accessible or usable. If, in the case under discussion, it seems inadvisable to promote the necessary change in zone, Mr. Greeley ought to be informed promptly to that effect. It was decided, finally, that the Board proceed with the drafting of the proposed amendment. As a method of procedure, Mr. Milne suggested:' (a) That the Board make a finished draft of the proposed amendment, embodying whatever restrictions are needed. (b) That the Board vote whether or not to present the amend- ment to the Town at this time. (o) Ascertain whether Messrs. Greeley and Kraetzer are ready to go ahead with their project, with such restrictions in effect, under the proposed amendment. (d) If the project can be carried out, present the amendment at the next Town Meeting; if not, drop it for the present. The meeting was adjourned at 11:05 o'clock. Clark
