HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932-12-20 PLA.IIJIAG BOARD MEETING December 20, 1932 A meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Conference illRoom of the Town Office Building, Tuesday, December 20, 1932, at 8:00 P . M. Messrs. Emery, hilne , Glynn, Scheibe and,DJuffy were present. The Town Engineer and secretary were also present. Mr. Emery stated that he had talked with Mr. Shurtleff in regard to Vine Brook and found that there are four kinds of Vlillows: Common, White , Laurel Leaf and Weeping, and that within the last few years a blight has taken them so they have to be sprayed. The trees should be planted 40 to 50 feet apart for the edging effect over a brook or walk. He suggested planting a Maple after every two Willows so that if anything happened to kill out Willow the Willows, the Maples would still be there . Be also stated that Trees there should be only one foot elevation or less because when the for Vine time comes to grade , it will affect the growth of the trees. The Brook Town Engineer should determine the distance between the trees so that the steam shovel when excavating would not interfere with them. rie did not think his assistance would be needed as the Town Engineer could handle the situation. s Mr. Cosgrove informed the Board that he had attended the meet- ing of the Mass . Planning Boards Mr. Cosgrove also stated that Mr. Harry E. Johnson appealed 1111 to the Board of Survey for a more favorable decision in regard to his development called Brick Village . Mr. Trask advised him that Lex. the Planning Board had given its decision and the Board of Survey Brick would back it up and if ne wanted any further action he would have Village to present another plan to the Planning Board showing a different entrance to the property. Mr. Duffy stated that he had discussed the matter of unerployed engineers with the Emergency Planning and Research Corporation and found that they would ask for a contribution from the Town. He read a letter which he drafted to Mr. Trask on this subject. The corp- oration will expect the Town to cooperate witn them in the matter of expense , because there are three men who are Lexington citizens on their list . The rate of pay is 612.50 per week. This money would have to be taken out of the Welfare Fund. Mr. Milne stated that he thought the Board should make a Emergency decision on some definite object it wants done and finished. Mr. Planning Cosgrove saidhe thought the work in connection with the extension & Researe of the sewer system starting at the Arlington Reservoir was important Corp. and they needed topographical maps which were made by going out over the work. Mr. Milne also presented a letter which he wrote to the Select- men in regard to the matter in question and the Board voted to accept it, IIIThe Towp Engineer presented the Board with co-Dies of "Sewers & Assessments for discussion. he stated that he tzought the rate sewer assessment was too low and that he would like to see the assess- ment 100`/0' instead of 500.
