PLANNING BOARL MEETING
March 15, 1932
A meeting of the Planning Board was held in the Con-
ference Boor: of the Town Office Building, Parch 15, 1932 at
8:00 P. M. i'-•essrs. Emery, Scheibe, Milne and Glynn were
present. Roland Greeley, the Town Engineer and the secretary
were also present.
The Board organized, reelecting fir. Emery as Chair- Organization
man and Mr. Scheibe as Clerk.
The Town Engineer stated that he had nothing to re-
port on the Vine Brook Project as he had been unable to
crake soundings due to heavy frost in the ground. This is
the first step to be taken in laying out the lines and if
done now it Nr,ould cost a lot more than later on when the
ground thaws. He inforried the Board that he would start
this viork as soon as possible.
In the meantime, Lr. Cosgrove is going to work on
the development of new streets for the trunk line sewer
between Lowell Street and Grant Street and has already
starteN a 100 ft. scale plan of the area. The Board
suggested that while making a study of the development of
this area between Lowell and Maple Streets including Great
Meadows, he consider a school house and recreation areas.
It would take six weeks to get topography from Arlington
line to �,aple Street which is necessary before the streets
can be laid out. It was suggested that this layout be con-
tinued to North Hancock Street.

' It was unanimously voted that the Hoard recommend
to the Selectmen that they have the Town Counsel secure
definite information as to the status of property rights
of Great Irleadows and the land around the Arlington Reservoir Great
and the possibility of acquisition by the Town of Lexington keadows
or right of use by the Town. Great Meadows was taken over
by Arlington for water purposes and they have been paying
t400.00 taxes on it.
Mr. bilne recommended that the building line on
any State highway hereafter constructed in Lexington shall
be not less than fifty feet from the exterior lines of the
street and not less than 100 feet from the center line of
the street and that as soon as practicable, effort be made Building

sir. Scheibe stated that he represented the property
owners of Lincoln Street and that they thought the town
dump should be filled back toward 7ialtham Street and some Town Lump
kind of a road or entrance made to accommodate people from
that section of the town. No action was taken on the matter.
