Members pres- ent were: Dr. Asarkof, Chairman; Mr. James W. Lambie, Dr. Donald A. Goldmann, George A. Smith, Jr., Director of Public Health and Jacqueline Selway, Sanitarian for the Board of Health. Minutes of the June 10, 1986 meeting were accepted as read. Jacqueline Selway gave her Sanitarian's report to the Board. She SANITARIAN'S said she had conducted routine inspections of hotels, markets, restau- REPORT rants, recreational summer camps for children and has also inspected some semi-public pools. Jacqy said that Mr. Smith had her take samples of the pool water and he taught her how to do the lab work and testing to check out the samples. She reported that she and the Health Director went up to the carni- val and checked out all the food concessions. Conditions were found to be satisfactory with a need for a few improvements. Jacqy told the Board that she is working on organizing the sub - filing system in the office. There had been three restaurants that she had recently found to be poorly maintained and on re -inspection she found that two of them had significantly improved. The Board discussed the restaurants that needed improvement (Peking Gardens, Bellino's and LeBellecour). The Director said we will just have to keep "grinding" on the Peking Gardens until improvements are made. This was the one restaurant that the Sanitarian had not seen any improvement. Mr. Smith brought up the case of the pupil of the LABB Program that HEALTH has Hepatitis B. Mr. Smith said it doesn't seem to be a problem but the DIRECTOR"S lifeguards and other workers are upset about it, particularly if they had REPORT to do mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Dr. Goldmann said they could buy a resuscitator. It is against the law to restrict this person in any way. Dr. Goldmann said there would be no way they could restrict this per- son from the pool unless he/she is uncontrolable. If this should occur that could be a problem if they scratch or bit and draws blood. Dr. Gold- mann said that George could advise them that blood is the danger here but no way keep him/her out of the pool. Mr. Smith said that he will look into the disposition of this person. 1 1 1 54 -2- Mr. Smith reported there is an overflowing septic system on Lincoln Street that he has ordered connected to town sewer.
