Home My WebLink About1982-09-13 3417 BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING SEPTEMBER 13, 1982 The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held Monday, September 13, 1982 at 7 15 p.m in Room G-1 (Recreation Office) of the Town Office Building Members present were Mr James W Lambie, Chairman; Dr Michael S Erdos, Dr Lina Roemer, Debora J Chiklis, Intern Sanitarian, and George A Smith, Director of Public Health The minutes of the July 19, 1982 meeting were approved as read Debora J Chiklis, Sanitarian, reported to the Board that during the past month she has continued to inspect the food service establishments She told the Board when she first came to work here she started inspecting restaurants and also the swimming pools Next she did the in-plant cafeterias and now she is concentrating on the mobile canteens and has also started to inspect the markets/convenience stores Debbie said she has been chasing down the canteen trucks and some had not bee licensed in this town Debora told the Board she has been approved to take the Registered Sanitarian's exam She would like to wait and take it in a couple of months Debora Chiklis told the Board that she has been offered a full time position at the Framingham Board of Health and she has accepted the offer The Board said that was wonderful that she had the opportunity They wished her the best of luck Mr Smith told the Board the owner of Cain's Seafoods came into the office with a check for his permit The bank cashed it so we won't have a problem Dr Roemer asked Debbie to check out Baskin-Robbins Mr Smith told the Board when MacDonald's opened at Minute Man Voc School they served 500 people in one hour Mr Smith told the Board he has filed two complaints in Concord Court One was against Keshian of 455 Lowell Street property, for his rubbish - the horses are gone The other is against Andrea Ciccolo for an overflowing cesspool There will be a Diabetes Screening Clinic on October 13, 1982 The training course will be 4 dates in November The Pneumonia Clinic will be run in October and the Flu Clinic one month later We will be alloted 610 doses of flu vaccine for the clinic Mr Smith explained briefly that the concept of a hazardous waste disposal day has been approved, it is being sponsored by the League of Women Voters The residents can bring a maximum of 5 gals of hazardous waste A chemist will be present on the site to analyze what the contents are The town will pro- vide the site Date is tentatively planned for October, possibly the 23rd Mr Smith received a letter from Dr Monderer, School Department, in regard to future consolidation of health services with the town Mr Smith said the Town Manager is looking toward the future in regard to consolidating building maintenance, computers, medical health and nurses, etc 3403 Mr Smith briefly discussed that the Board of Selectmen are contemplating changing the regulation in regard to the time trash can be put out for pick-up They are thinking of letting trash being put out one hour after sunset for next day's collection The raccoons, skunks, etc (dogs) could tear and spread the trash all over Mr Smith has no objection to it being put out the night before as long as it is picked up after dogs, etc get into it There has been a salmonella outbreak in the State We received a letter from the State that they had not identified the food source as yet but it seems to be a common food item Mario's and Denny's had personnel that had salmonella and Mr Smith had to request they stop working until the Salmonella was under control Collaborative Research has requested to keep an increased number of rabbits at the presises in Lexington The permit fee will increase to $20 00 Mr Smith reported that the dog control department is operating well and the sanitarian has been doing a good job We could really use a full-time sanitarian as the work-load of the Health Department has increased The church and school kitchens will be needing inspections soon Mr Smith had received a call from a resident about some dumping at Honeywell He has an appointment to tour their facility with one of the executives there The next meeting will be on October 18, 1982 The following permits were signed by the Board Food Service Establishments Mother Earth Cain's Seafoods 10 Muzzey St 321 Woburn St MacDonald's Data Resources Vending Machines Minute Man Vocational School 29 Hartwell Ave Mario's Restaurant Data Resources Vending Machines 1733 Mass Ave 24 Hartwell Ave Alexander's Convenient Store Data Instruments (Dining Mgmt Services) 335 Woburn St 4 Hartwell Place ARA Services for Honeywell Instrumentation Lab (VIP Vending) 2 Forbes Rd 113 Hartwell Ave Folsom's Seafoods of Lexington Honeywell -
