A letter has been sent to all physicians so they could
be aware of this outbreak.
The application for a permit to keep 12 chickens by Elio
ANIMAL Sgrosso, 215 Marrett Road, Lexington, Mass. was approved by
PERMIT the Board. There were no objection from the abuttors.
Mr. Heustis reported that the Board of Health had received
a letter stating that Russell B. Mason had requested a hearing
before the County Commissioners to reverse the decision of the
MASON - Board of Health regarding the McDonald horse permit. This meet-
McDONALD ing has been scheduled for March 21, 1973 at 1:00 p.m. in the
County Commissioners Office, Superior Court House, East Cam-
bridge, Mass.
Mr. Heustis said he had made an appointment to meet with Mr.
Cohen, Town Counsel, on Wednesday morning to discuss this hear-
ing. He said he would keep the board informed.

BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
APRIL 2, 1973
The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held Monday,
April 2, 1973 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room G-15 of the
Town Office Building. Members present were: Dr. William L.
Cosgrove, Chairman, James Lambie, Dr. Charles Ellicott and
Robert Heustis, Director of Public Health.
The minutes of the March 5, 1973 meeting were approved
as read.
A short discussion was held with Mr. Norman Cohen, Town
Counsel, regarding the hearing on the Mason -McDonald horse
MASON - allergy case scheduled for Wednesday morning April 4, 1973 at
McDONALD 8:00 a.m.
HARD OF
HEARING
CLINIC
The Hard of Hearing Clinic was discussed. Ads will be
placed in the paper a week before the clinic. An article will
also be submitted to the paper for publication. It was agreed
that the article should be published the week of April 26 and

and the ad should be in the May 3 edition. It was agreed that
the ad would be reduced from a $400. dollar full page ad to an
ad that would run around $200. dollars.
The Medical Service for the Elderly was discussed. Dr.
Ellicott said he wondered if it would be agreeable to run four
clinics a month. He said he thought there was a possibility of
having more funds than originally planned on.
Dr. Cosgrove said he did not care if they went to four
clinics a month but he would like to see this started as soon
as possible.
Dr. Ellicott suggested Dr. Cosgrove attend the next Visit-
ing Nurse Association Meeting which will be the third Thursday
of the month. Dr. Cosgrove said he would attend if he possibly
could.
The letter from Mrs. Ingeborg H. Judge, 28 Columbus Street,
expressing concern regarding a water problem that could be created
by the development of two lots on Columbus Street was discussed
by the Board.
Mr. Heustis explained that these lots would be on public
sewer. He said he had seen the area and did not think they
would cause a water problem but he would look at them again.
He went on to say that quite often the development of lots
like this corrected problems because the developer could put
in drains to take care of the run-off.

The Board instructed Mr. Heustis to check these lots to be
sure that there would be no problem caused by the development
of these lots.

The letter from the Lynn Dairy and Food Laboratory regard-
ing the high counts on milk supplied by West Lynn Creamery to
Dunkin Donuts was discussed. WEST

Mr. Heustis said a letter had been sent to West Lynn DAIRY
Creamery regarding the high counts on milk supplied to Dunkin
Donuts and the continued violations with no sign of improvement.
Mr. DiBone. quality control tan from the Lynn Dairy and Food
Laboratory came out to Dinkin Donuts and inspected the facilities
and found that poor rotation and the auxilary storage chest was
not working properly. It is hoped that when these corrections are
made the milk counts will show improvement.
Dr. Ellicott brought Dr. Cosgrove up to date on the MVMHA
Budget. Dr. Ellicott said he and Mr. Lambie had re -studied this MYSTIC
budget and were prepared to ask the Town Meeting for a 10.4% in- VALLEY
crease instead of the 3% approved by the Board of Selectmen. Dr. BUDGET
Ellicott said he had already submitted this to Mr. O'Connell and
he felt they were prepared to go along with him.
As the members wanted to go to Town Meeting there was no
discussion on this problem.
