Noble at Middlesex Sanatorium when the department had to go into the
Amicon Corportation to test for tuberculosis, and they all agreed
that the Tine testing was the thing to do. Dr. Robinson, did not
agree, therefore. this letter.

He sai.'i b„ went with Deputy Fir- Chief Fradette to inspect
Franklin School the other day. This was in ansa-s=r to a complaint
from th school. nurse. Mrs. Packer. Deputy Fradete was amazed
to find old scatter rugs. upholstered furniture and corragated
boxes usd in the classrooms. The boxes were used to make houses,
they were used for shelves and a number of other things. This
would be a real problem in ease of fire. The school nurses are
very concerned about the use of the rugs and furniture because
there is no means of cleaning them properly.
The Board asked if the furniture and rugs could be a con-
tributing factor in the spreadof the lice and nits. Mr. Heustis
said Y -s.
Dr. Cosgrove said he thought the school would do w 11 to
bring in a professional exterminator, but this lice was a health
problem. The furniture although he did not approve was a school
problem. and he felt it up to the school to see that it was taken
care of properly.
Mr. Heustis said he thought the school nurses were looking
to the Board of Health to take a firm stand on some of these
things.
After further discussion it was agreed that the Board should
be in the position of a consultant. The school should get the
problem cleaned up and then they could adopt certain policies
which would prevent a situation like this in the future.
The Board agreed that they would support the suggestion that
the Town should have a doctor for pre-employment physicals for TOWN
police and fire personnel. also Public Works. Dr. Ellicott said DOCTOR
he would suggest a fee per service basis rather than a flat re-
tainer rate.
Mr. Heustis reported that he also talked with Mr. OtConnell BARE
about the barn feet policy tend thy agreed that; an executive order FEET
by the Board of Selectmen for the public buildings would be more
effective.
The letter from the Chamber of Commerce supporting an a-
doption of no bare feet in the public buildings was read by the
Board.
Dr. Cosgrove said he thought the letter should be acknowledged.
He suggested Mr. Heustis do some research on the problem of bare
feet and see how far the Board could go in enforcing and adopting
a regulation.
The order to Arthur Zeitler, proprietor of the Village Variety VILLAGE
Stores at 93 Massachusetts Avenue and 189 Bedford Street regarding VARIETY
the rubbish around the stores was approved. STORES
Mr. Heustis reported that this matter had been taken
care of.
