HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-07-28383 BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING July 28, 1959 A meeting of the Board of Health was held in the conference room of the Board of "ealth Office Tuesday evening, July 28th, 1959 at 7:30 P.M. with Chairman McQuillan, Mr. Gole, Doctor Cosgrove and Health Officer Lurvey present. The minutes of the July 17, 1959 meeting were corrected and approved by the Board and a new set of minutes will be mailed to each member stating that they are corrected. Because of the letter from the Town Co}incil stating that all clinics are under the jurisdiction of the Board of health DENTAL Mrs. Elizabeth Haroian, Lhairman of the Dental Clinic, met with CLINIC the Board of Health at a regular meeting on July 28th, 1959. Mrs. Haroian explained the duties of the school Dental Hygienist they are: 1. Assist the Dentist at Clinic 2. Examine all children's teeth 3. Educate the children in correct dental Hygiene. Due to thepresent salary paid to the Dental Hygenist, Mrs. Porter felt that she could not stay on in her present position. Mr. McQuillan has turned the Dental Clinic over to Dr. Cosgrove. In the mean time the Board of Health will talk to Mrs. Porter and see if some sort of an arrangement can be made with her to stay on in her present position. Mrs. Haroian is to write to Mrs. Porter and tell her of her meeting with the Board of Health. It was also suggested that the present members of the Dental Clinic continue in their present capacity and the Board of Health would act as their over -seer and spokes -man. Both Mr. Cole and Dr. Cosgrove were unable to attend the Board Meeting of July 17, 1959. Mr. McQuillan explained to them about the Regent Delicatessen, the Child Care Center at 8 Oxbow Road, and the Oak Hill Estates. Mr. Lurvey reported that the polio clinic was shaping up good and that the vaccine would cost $86.00. Mr. Lurvey also explained that we had contacted by phone all people who have called inquiring about a polio clinic, and that we had put an add in the Minute Man, notices in six store windows and an announcement was sent to Dave Maynard and a notice was sent to all Departments in the Town Offices. Letter to Grabill Ley & Martin was approved. The land they inquired about at #7 & 9 Lillian Road was low but because they were connected to the Public Sewer the land was approved. Letter to Mr. Bessette concerning the preliminary plan of the "Grant Estate Subdivision" was approved. The letter to Five Fields Pool, Inc. Barberry Road was approved. The letter stated the results of the water tests Mr. Lurvey had made. The letter to J. W. Hayden Recreation Center was approved The letter stated the results of the water tests Mr. Lurvey had made. JULY 17 POLIO CLINIC #7&9 LILLIAN RD. GRANT ESTATE FIVE FIELDS POOL HAYDEN RECREATION CENTER 384 Letter to Miss King read and approved. Letter to Mrs. O'Brien read and approved. MISS KING MRS. O'BRIEN Letter to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts read and COMMONWEALTH approved. This concerned the licensing of Howard C. Ela, of Chipman P. Ela, and Howard C. Ela, Jr. all of 120 School St. MASS. as funeral directors. Letter to the District Health Officer regarding premature INFANT KOFF infant Koff read and approved. Letter to Gordan Robinson of 80 Hancock Street was read and approved. Letter to B. L. Cummings Milk Co. was read and approved, Mr. Lurvey will re -inspect the plant in the near future and if the complaints are not cleaned up more drastic steps will be taken. The letter to Peacock Farm Pool was approved as read. The letter stated the results of the water tests made by Mr. Lurvey. The .Lexington Inn Letter was approved as read, as stated by Mr. Lurvey at the time of testing the pool water there was no chlorine in the water. As soon as he pointed this out his request was complied with. Mr. Lurvey also reported that he is receiving excellent cooperation from the manager of the Lexington Inn regarding the kitchen. Mr. Lurvey reported that Mrs. Sachetti of 12 Cherry Street has been sent back to. Middlesex County Sanitorium. the medicine MRS. previously purchased by the Board will be returned to this off- SACHETTI ice. The Board feels that the schools should let us know the PATCH results of the patch tests for T.B. TESTS The Board would like approval on the letter Mr. Lurvey WYNWOOD sent to the Wynwood Associates regarding the Oak Hill Estates ASSOC. Section III. Lot #29 Turning Mill Road was discussed by the Board. Mr. Lurvey had Whitman & Howard cheek the sewerage system es it was originally designed by them. #29 TURNING MILL ROAD Mr. Lurvey reported that Mr. McElman of 152 Woburn Street has a sewage problem. The only solution is to have the dwelling connected with the Put•ile sewer but because of the MR. ELMAN 1
