Miss Joanne Carota, 24 Tarbell Avenue, was interviewed
by the Board for the position of secretary and clerk for the
Health Department. It was voted to appoint Miss Carota to
this position starting June 22, 1959.
The Board reviewed action taken by the Health Officer
against Charles Centore, 32 Lawrence Lane. Mr. Centore
had added a laboratory sink in the basement against Board
of Health regulations. This has been corrected.
Mr. Lurvey discussed the matter of responsibility of
the School Dental Clinic with the Board.It was decided
to await action on this pending a conference Mr. Lurvey
has arranged with Dr. Dunham, State District Health Office.
The Board voted to approve the Arlex Child Care Center
for the year.
The Board asked Mr. Lurvey to get a statement on our
budget to date from the Town Accountant.
The Board voted to pay the Sachetti tuberculosis drug
bill until further notice. Mr. McQui ian.is to investigate
the price on this drug. Mrs. Sachetti lives at 12 Cherry
Street.

The Board elected Mr. McQuillan to serve as Chairman of CHAIR
the Board of Health for the ensuing year.
The next regular meeting of the Board of Health will b
held on Juno 26 at night .

MEETINGS
A meeting of the Board of Health was held on Friday
June 26, 1959, in the Selectmen's Room, Town Offices, at 8
P.M. with Chairman McQuillan, Doctor Cosgrove, Mr. Cole and
Health Officer Lurvey present.
The Corner Variety Store, 856 Massachusetts Avenue, has CORNER
not cooperated in maintaining proper sanitary conditions. VARIETY
The Board of Health decided to write a letter listing the STORE
violations of which the Corner Variety Store will have to
comply.
John Sellars application for a license to operate a SELLAR
pasturization plant at 430 Concord Avenue was discussed. It
was the opinion of the Board that a license should not be
issued until the plant is put into operating condition. The
Board of Health voted to send a letter stating the conditions
that would have to be improved before a license can be issued.
The Board of Health is interested in the dental clinic. DENTAL

The State Health Department informed the Lexington Health De- CLINIC
partment that the Local Health Department is responsible.
The Board voted to write a letter to Harold Stevens, Town
Council, asking his opinion of who should assume the re-
sponsibility of a dental clinic.
The Board approved the letter sent to Marshall's Bakery, MARSHALLS
315 Marrett Road.

The Board discussed the letter regarding the trunk line COMMON*
sewer on Watertown Street from the Commonwealth of Massachu- WEALTH OF
setts. The letter was approved by the Board. MASS.
The Board discussed the letters to and from the Planning PLANNING
Board, Section III, Colonial Acres Subdivision. The Board BOARD
approves both letters.
The Board voted that an order be sent to Mr. Joseph Buse BUSA
52 Lowell Street, to connect to the town sewer because of in-
adequate cesspool.
A letter to Frank A. Yeomans regarding Lot 139, Part B, YEOMANS
on York Street was approved by the Board of Health.
A letter from -Judith Brask, 9 Robbins Road, regarding
a Polio Vaccination Program was discussed by the Board. Only POLIO
19 people have called or wrote regarding a polio clinic. It CLINIC
was voted that the Board of Health write a letter in the news-
paper stating that there were only 19 people who called up
wanting a polio clinic in the whole town of Lexington. We
would still have a clinic if the demand was great enough. It
should be mentioned that this shapes up to be a bad year for
polio.
The Board approves the animal application for one horse ANIMAL
owned by Edward L. York, 24 Hancock Street. APPLICATICI
The Board of Health decided that the next meeting of the.
Health Department will be on July 13, 1959.
The Board of Health voted to connect the dwelling owned
by Thomas A. McElman at 152 Woburn Street.
The Board of Health would like an official notice from
the school department'regarding the tuberculin testing pro-
gram.

The Board of Health discussed letter sent to Mrs. Annand ANNAND
and Mrs. Stinchfield on Bedford Street. The Board approves SILVA

The Board discussed the budget for June 1, 1959 and the BUDGET
Board approved it.

Mr. Lurvey reported that Carroll's Piggery has cleaned CARROLLS,

The Board of Health discussed appropiation in regard to PERSONAL

The Board of Health suggested to call the State Diagnos- ORDERS
tic Laboratory and get some order blanks and several forms
stating what is available on biologics.
The Board voted to send a copy of Mr. Waitete letter to
Miss Hillson, stating that the Public Welfare Department in HILLSON
the Town of Lexington made a personal investigation of this
matter and it has also been confirmed by the Railway EXpreas
Agency.
The Board suggested .to check the medicine in the refrig-_MEDICINE
orator every Monday.
Mr. Lurvey decided to cheek the distribution of vaccines THEATER
in the Theater Pharmacy. It seems to appear that the Theater PHARMACY
Pharmacy has not been ordering any medicines from the Health
Department and they -have not been sending back any vaccines
that
have expired.
The Board of Health approved all the licenses to be si- LICENS

The Minutes of the last meeting were approved by the MINUTES
Board of Health.
The Board discussed the letter received from Harvard
University thanking the Board of Health for making our
facilities available for one of their students.
The Board approves the animal application for Leeland
McConchie, 71.E Hill Street.
A letter from the Board of Selectmen of setting up a
meeting with the Board of Health was discussed. This had
to be cancelled and a new date July 13, 1959 has been set.
