Mr. Kraynick, Whitman & Howard engineer, joined the Board for Sub- a discussion of two subdivisions and the new subdivision law. It Division was decided to ask written approval from Mr. Gayer, Superintendent Law of Wublic Works and Town Engineer, of drainage in the case of sub- divisions before the Board of Health approval is given to the Plan- ning Board. It was also suggested that plans should include sewers, not just on the profiles. Mr. Lurvey is waiting for word from the Town Counsel on the new subdivision law. After an investigation of 52 Winter Street for Mrs . Theresa C.C.CR„ Iodice, Mr. Lurvey said he recommended approval of a child care 52 license provided she has the tree stumps in the yard area removed. Winter During the meeting Mrs. Iodice telephoned to say this had been St. done, and the Board approved issuance of a license, to be sent to Mrs. Iodice after Mr. Lurvey has checked the area again. An investigation by Mr. Lurvey showed that Mrs. Wilda Ward, C.C.C.. 233 East Street, has complied with the request of the Board that 233 she correct the entrance and provide better lighting for her child East care center before she opens the school this fall. St. Mr. Lurvey reported that he had turned over a letter from the Franklin principal of the Franklin School to the Public Works department in School regard to inadequate collection of garbage at the school. The Board agreed that only if the Public Works Department and the School cannot come to some agreement, should the Board of Health step in. Mr. survey reported letters had been sent to all concerned in g the case of the overflowing cesspool at 20 Meriam Street owned by Et Mr. Benjamin Fogler, now in Manila. Me'ritn On Mr. Lurvey' s recommendation after an investigation, the Home f Home for the Aged at 2027 Massachusetts Avenue was approved for <,A..g0 a license. 348 -2- The Board discussed Potters' Piggery. At the special meeting Potters on June 2L with the Potters and the committee from Minute Man Piggery Highlands the Board had been asked to hold another informal meeting in September to discuss the problem during the summer months now that the Potters are hauling the manure off the farm weekly. Mrs. Herterick called during the meeting and requested a date be set. The Board set Wednesday, October 29, 7.30 P.M. , Selectmen' s Room, Town Office Building for this meeting, and will notify the Potters and the Minute Man Highlands Committee. The Board expressed the opinion that it seems to them that the committee is preparing to put pressure on the Potters, and it should rightly come from the committee. So long as the piggery abides by the regulations of the board of Health, the Board will issue a license. Ward An application from Mr. Walter A. Ward, 4 Bruce Road, for Premature assistance for hospitilization bills for a premature infant was Baby discussed. The Board denied this application with the feeling that Mr. Ward' s salary is sufficient to take care of this matter without the help of the town. CP Mr. Lurvey brought up the matter of a cesspool to be built Garfield on Garfield Street which would be about 1301 from a sewer. The St. Board decided that a rule should be established that any lot that is within 2001 or less from a sewer should be connected to the public sewer. Heretofore no rule has been set as to the actual distance from a sewer when the owner should be asked to connect. Budget The budget for the Health Department for 1959 was made out, increasing some items, and decreasing others. The next regular meeting of the Board will be on Friday, November 21, 1958.
