HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-06-21298 BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING June 21, 1957 A regular monthly meeting of the Board of Fealth was held on Friday, June 21, 1957, in the Selectmen's Room, Town Health Offices, at 3 P.M. Dr. Cosgrove, Mr. Cole and Mr. Lurvey were present. Two subdivisions were approved. Battle View Park, Section Sub- 2, owner, Ralph Frissore. Battle Green Village, Section 2, Divisions Ross. Mr. Frissore's land is off Laconia Street, Battle Green Village is in the Hastings School area. Mr. Lurvey reported that the sewage problem at 249 Marrett Marrett Road is being corrected, the last of the group on Marrett Road ,Road asked to correct conditions there. Mr. Ferreira bought some adjacent land in order to have the necessary area. Mr. Peter Canessa, 905 Massachusetts Avenue, has his over- flow leaching line in, and Mr. Lurvey is expecting to be called as soon as the cesspool has been pumped out to check the size. A letter was received from Mr. Richard Rodenhiser, 294 :Rodehhiser Lincoln Street, Allston, agreeing to send in the trucks used in his cesspool pumping work in Lexington for inspection. One truck had been checked but others were being used in the town. Mr. Winfield Caouette, Jr., 28 Balfour Street, has been Caouette given a Poultry Permit after the Board's reconsideration of the case. He is to live up to certain conditions, and will be given a Permit for 12 Poultry instead of the original 25 asked. Because of a complaint of overflowing cesspool in the rear OFCP of 37-35 Spring Street, the owners, Harry J. and Anita G. Haroutunian, have been order to connect to the public sewer. A letter from Mr. Ralph J. Frissore, Lexington builder, and President of the Lexington Building Associates, concerning the policy of subdivision engineering was discussed at some length. Mr. T'rtssore feels that the builders would like to have the Sub- Board of Health contact the engineers for the builders, and •Division have a set fee for each lot, to be paid by the builders to the Policy Town of Lexington thru the Health Department. Mr. Lucas of Whitman & Howard will ask Mr. Howard if a fee can be set. Mr. Lurvey suggested Mr. Harold Stevens be asked for his legal advice of handling this matter. The Board will take no action until word is received from fir. Lucas. If the Building Associ- ates wish a meeting with the Board to discuss the policy, the Board will be glad to meet with them. Mr. McQuillan was unanimously re-elected Chairman of the Board for the coming year 1957-58. Mr. Lurvey reported that the Ennis family intend to pur- chase the Helburn property at 3126 Massachusetts Avenue and establish a 'Child Care Center. This will have to be approved by the Board of Appeals as well as the Board of Health. 1 1 299 Mr. Cole said that the first meeting of the new Lexington Hospital Committee is to be held on Wednesday, June 26, to or- Hospital ganize. He would like to have Mr. McQuillan notified. tbmmittae Mr. Lurvey reported that 14 Polio Inoculation Clinics have been held since the last Board meeting and that this Polio concludes our Polio Program. Vaccine will now be given only Program to doctors for infants and expectant mothers. The Board agreed that letters of thanks should be sent to all those who helped with the program, doctors, nurses, clerks, etc. Dr. Cosgrove suggested that an article be written up for the Minute Man giving the statistics of the polio program. 14 Store Milk Licenses, 5 Vehicle Milk Licenses, and 6 Licenses Oleomargarine Registration have been issued sine the last meeting (See Agenda) and were approved by the Board. Whitman & Howard 286.10 Expenses for the Polio Program just completed, Booster shots, amounted to $320.65 for supplies and $887.00 for the payroll for the doctors, nurses, and clerks. Our appropriation for 1957 is $2000, so there is a balance of $792.35 left. Good results have been felt from the letter sent out by the Health Department to the men licenses by the Board to Rubbish transport rubbish in the Town of Lexington. The letter said only rubbish collected 1 nside the Lexington town limits should be dumped in the Lexington Town Dump. The caretaker said he has noticed quite a drop in the loads brought in.
