BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
January 18, 1957 1.14
IIA regular meeting of the Board of Health was held on Friday,
January 18, 1957, at 3 P .M. Present were Chairman McQuillan,
Dr. Cosgrove, and Mr. Lurvey.
Mr. McQuillan reported that the 1957 budget for the Board
Budget of Health was discussed at the meeting of the Appropriations
Committee on Monday, January 14 , 1957 , and no objections were
found.
Annual Reports of the Board and the Executive Health Officer
Annual are ready to be sent to the Board of Selectmen.

Bills for the past month were approved to the amount of
$110.20. Dr. Benton submitted a bill for ('12.00 for trans-
Bills portation of two animal heads to the Diagnostic Laboratory
in Jamaica Plain for rabies examination. The Board agreed to
pay the bill, but suggested that another year allowance should
be made in the budgetf or such an item.

The Health Officer's monthly report was discussed.
Mr. Lurvey was asked what the status of the Polio Program
Polio is at this time. New permanent consent cards are to be printed,

people was agreed on.
The new owner of Martin 's Drug Store wondered why he was

The American Cancer Society has asked the Board for en-
dorsement and help in the showing of a moving picture and
lecture at Estabrook Hall Tuesday, March 12 , 10.30 A .M. and Cancer
Wednesday, March 13, at 8 P.M. in connection with early de-
tection of cancer. The Board voted to sponsor the showing
of the film. The bard will pay for the expense of an adver-
tisement in the Minute Man, secure a projector and operator
and the use of Estabrook Hall.
Mr. McQuillan suggested sending a letter to the various
women's societies and groups asking their help and ideas in
publicizing the lectures . It was suggested that perhaps
representatives from the groups might meet in early March
and aid in notifying the women of the town.
Next Wednesday, January 23, Mr. Lurvey has been asked to
speak at the annual meeting of the Lexington Visiting Nurses L.V.N.A,
Association. He suggested he speak of the American Cancer
Society lectures at this meeting as a great many representa-
tives of the organizations in town are present at the meeting.
A half page ad in the Minute Man to announce the lectures
will be put in by the Board of Health. No commercial names
are to be attached - sponsorship of the Lexington Health De-
partment only.
The next meeting of the Board will be Friday, February 15.
