BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
May 11, 1956
The May meeting of the Board of Health was held on Friday,
May 11, at 3 P.M. in the Selectmen's Room of the Town Offices.
Chairman McQuillan, Dr. Cosgrove, Mr. Cole, and Mr. Lurvey
were present.
A letter from Whitman & Howard, Engineers, was read re -
Methodist porting on the Methodist Church sewerage problem. The engi-
Church neers feel that the solution is to run the sewer line under
pressure under the existing sewer to School Street. A copy
of this report is to be sent to Mr. Alford Peckham, Chairman
of the Methodist Church Building Committee.
The Rabies Clinic for 1956 is to be held on Monday thru
Rabies Friday, May 21-24, 2 to 4 P.M. Over 1925 dogs are recorded
Clinic in Lexington this year. Precincets are scheduled for differ-
ent days, and notices were mailed to each household.
Mr. Lurvey reported that the Polio inoculations - first
Polio shots - were completed on May 5, 1956. Approximately 5,338
Program shots were given. The cost of the first inoculation program
amounted to $ 1060.76. Doctors, $265., Nurses, about 4310.13,
Clerical Help, about $193., and expenses for equipment and
materials, etc., about 0284.51.
Mr. Lurvey and Mr. McQuillan reported the meeting with
Planning the Planning Board on May 7, 1956, was very worthwhile. The
Board purpose of the meeting was to discuss the future sewerage
plans for the town.
Mr. Lurvey brought up the question of permits for people
See who clean and pump out cesspools and septic tanks. It was
Permits decided to publish the Rules and Regulations, Chapter IV,
Article 4, Nuisances, applying to this permit in the Minute
Man next week, May 17, to bring it to the attention of the
people engaged in such work. An application for a permit to.
Remove, Transport and Dispose of Sewage was received (and
approved) from William F. Mason, Jr., 156 Woburn Street.
Mr. Weiser Mr. Weiser, 21 Liberty Avenue, met with the Board at
4.15 P.M. to discuss the connection of his property to the
town sewer. He does not feel financially able to do this
at the moment, and suggested he do the -work of correcting
the problem himself during the next week or two, and perhaps
in six months his financial situation would be better. The
Board decided to allow him to do this. Mr. Lurvey stated
he would like to see the trenches before covering. Ir.
McQuillan said he thought the Board would like to help him
out by giving him time to adjust his financial affairs, but
if the situation becomes critical the connection to the town
sewer would have to be made immediately. Mr. Weiser agreed.
Animal An Animal Permit was approved for Ernest Walker, 178
Permit Lowell Street, a renewal, for 50 poultry.
Methyl Alcohol Licenses were approved and signed for
70.

A Poultry Slaughterhouse License was approved and signed
for Idylwilde Farrn, 23 Middle Street (Napoli), a renewal.
The L.V.N.A. report for April was noted.

Report was discussed.
One new tuberculosis case was admitted to Middlesex
County Sanatorium on April 23, 1956, Mrs. Katherine C.
Sachetti, 12 Cherry Street, Lexington, and one patient was
discharged from the Sanatorium on April 1S, 1956, Mrs.
Maureen Nickerson, 192 days, 36 James Street, Lexington.
The meeting was adjourned at 4.45 P.M.
