HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-03-26 223 BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING March 26, 1954 The Regular meeting of the Board of Health was held Friday, March 26 , 1954 at 3 P .M. in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building. Chairman R . L.. McQuillan was present. Mr. Richard Jackson, Health Sanitarian, and the Clerk were also present. Mrs. Caroline Packard Corcoran appeared before the Board relative to an application for a permit to keep animals in be- Mrs. helaf of her father, Ernest Packard. Mr. Packard had not made Cor- application for such a permit heretofore and a letter was sent coran to him by the Board asking for an explanation. Mr. Packard was unaware that such a permit was necessary. Mrs . Corcoran asked to increase the number of animals to be kept on these premises , namely 272 Concord Avenue , and the Chairman agreed to this. Letter was received from the Planning Board re : DeVries Construction 6o. , Sun Valley subdivision. These lots according sun to the plans are all to be connected to the public sewer, and Vallej the drainage system has been approved by Mr. Burns , Town Engineer. The Chairman requested that a letter be sent to the Planning Board of the Board 's approval of the plans as submitted. The matter of the premature Fidler baby was held over until Mrs .' next meeting pending receipt of forms to be filled out by Mrs. Heli Fidler which have not as yet been received by the Board. A letter was received from Mr. Stevens , Town Counsel, advising that a Bill of Complaint had been entered in Middlesex Superior Court against William Dailey for keeping swine on his premises Wm. without a permit. Dai]er Letter was received from the Department of Health of Belmont, relative to the formation of a cooperative laboratory with Watertown and Lexington. The Chairman requested that Mr. Jackson contact these two Boards and get some definite plans to present to the Board and what we would gain by such a merger. Report from L. V. N. A. noted. A letter was sent to Mrs. Wilda M. Ward calling her attention to the fact that she had not made application for a license for the Day Care of Children previously, and that hereafter Wilda I such applications must be presented each year. Ward In Mr. Jackson's report on BAAughtering, he reported the fact that at a routine check-up, Dr. Karasoff, Dept. of Health Veterinary Inspector found twelve unstamped hog carcasses be- Mr. longing to Mr. Davis. Mr. McQuillan requested that a letter Davis be written to Mr. Davis asking that he appear before the Board at their next regular meeting April 16 to discuss the matter. 224 pij A complaint was received from Mr. Leonard Jellis concerning Complaint a dump on Essex Street which in his opinion is a health Essex St . menace. This land is owned by Miss Mary and Miss Julia O'Leary of 128 Woburn Street. This matter was discussed with Mr. Burns of the PublicW orks Department to see if a bull- dozer could be put in and cover over the dump with dirt. A letter was sent to the Misses O 'Leary asking their per- mission to do this , also to the Board of Selectmen asking their permission to have the Public Works do this work. The following appointments were made , subject to the Appointmentgb.pproval of Dr. Cosgrove and Mr. Cole , and this was obtained on March 29, 1954: Richard F . Jackson Health Sanitarian Richard F . Permits The following permits and licenses were granted subject & to the approval of Dr. Cosgrove and Mr. Cole , and this was Licenses obtained on March 29th.
