BOARD OF HEALTH nflEETING
March 16, 1956
A regular meeting of the Board of Health was held in
the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, on March 16,
1956, at 3 P.M. Present were Chairman McQuillan, Mr. Cole
and Mr. Lurvey.
Mr. McQuillan said the proposed budget for personal
Budget services was not approved as submitted by the Board of Health
but was cut. There is to be a special meeting of the Salary
Schedule Committee and the Board of Selectmen tomorrow morning
March 17, in the Town Office Building, Selectmen's Room.
Mr. McQuillan will attend and discuss the subject with the
members.
The February report of the Lexington Visiting Nurses.
Association was noted and approved.
Bills to the amount of $691.09 were discussed and approved
Bills for payment.

Mr. Lurvey's report for the period February 20 to March
16 was discussed item by item. Mr. Lurvey spoke of the lack
of cooperation at the Minute Man Restaurant.
45 Earle St. The problem of deplorable living conditions at Kelley's,
45 Earle Street, was brought up. A letter will be sent to
Mr. Joseph Kelley stating the changes that must be made in
order to comply with the rules and regulations of the Board.
Unless these conditions are met, the house will be closed as
uninhabitable.
Mr. McQuillan dictated a letter to be sent to Mrs. Alice
Mrs. Shannon Shannon of 321 Bedford Street. It is the Board's decision
that the connection of her property to the sewer be made by
May 1, 1956. It is felt that Mrs. Shannon has been given
more than enough time and consideration to do this. The town
will make the connection if Mrs. Shannon has not complied
before May 1. Because of the snowstorm, Mrs. Shannon was
unable to get to the 3.30 P.M. appointment with the Board.
Mr. Donald D. Wilson's application for a permit to keep
400 poultry at 6 Pleasant Street, a renewal, was granted.
A letter is to be sent to the Planning Board suggesting
a meeting together with the Board of Health on the question

of sewers. It is thought that a new survey should be made
in order to make plans for the future.
Mr. Lurvey was named as Slaughter Inspector for the town
as usual procedure though we have no more slaughtering. Appoint.
Dr. Benton was appointed Animal Inspector. Letters are to ments
be sent to Mr. Carley and Mr. Bowdidge at the Metropolitan
State Hospital, Waltham, to Dr. Benton, Miss Murray, and to
Mr. Carroll, Town Clerk, notifying them of the 1956 appoint-
ments, and asking them to be sworn in by Mr. !Carroll. Mr.
Lurvey and Mrs. MacDonald will see Mr. Carroll also. These
people hhould have been notified earlier but with the press
of business the clerk is late.
The meeting adjourned at 4.55 P.M.
