Home My WebLink About1954-04-16 225 BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING April 16, 1954 The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held Friday, April 16th at 3 P .M. in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building. Chairman Mctquillan and Dr. Cosgrove were present. The clerk was also present. The report from Whitman & Howard re- subdivision of Liberty Sub-. Avenue was presented to the Board for their approval. The div- Chairman requested that a letter be sent to the Planning Board isiGl approving this subdivision subject to the acceptance of the Liberty builder of the plan as submitted in the report. Ave. A letter was presented from the Board of Selectmen relative to the use of a bulldozer covering the dump on private property on Essex Street, owners being the Misses O'Learys of Woburn Street. The Board of Selectmen did not wish to take any action in this matter as this dump is on private property. A letter Essex. was also received from the owners of the property granting St. permission to cover the dump. Mr. McQuillan requested that a Dump letter be written to Mr. Leonard Jellis who brought this sit- uation to the attention of the Board, exvlaining the Select- men's view on this situation and suggesting that those people close to the dump get together and cover it over for their own protection. Mr. McQuillan asked that Mr. Jackson get some m ore infor- mation regarding the bids on publishing the new Rules and Regulations and get in touch with him. Mr. Charles Davis appeared before the Board at 4 P .M. at its request to explain his slaughtering without the Slaughtering Inspector being present. He said he bought the hogs in Mr. Brighton and phoned from there to have the water heated and Davis to telephone Mr. Jackson. When he arrived at the slaughtering house, throught some misunderstanding Mr. Jackson had not been notified, and as the water was ready for him, he went ahead and slaughtered the hogs. The State Inspector came in the next morning and found the unstamped hogs and re- ported it to Mr. Jackson. These hogs were condemned and dia- posed of at a cost to Mr. Davis of *460 .00 Mr. McQuillan also brought to his attention the fact that he had not paid any of the bills for slaughtering which had been sent to him. At this time he paid his bill amounting to $115.50. Mr. Davis retired at 4.10 P.M. Application for slaughter house license and slaughtering license from Mr. Monsignore and anolication for slaughtering license from Mr. Davis were not granted at this time. Report from the L .V.N.A. for the month of March was read and noted. At the request of the Chairman, it was voted to hold the cc 226 n next regular meeting on May 28, 1954. Mr. McQuillan requested uested that Rules this be held up until discussed with gr.
