BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
September 18, 1953
A regular meeting of the Board of Health was held in the
Selectmen's Rooms , Town Office Building, on September 18, 1953
at 3.00 P .M. Chairman McQuillan and Dr. Cosgrove were present.
Mr. Jackson, Health Sanitarian, and the Clerk were also present.
Letters from residents of the Sunnyfield area were presented
to the Board asking for extension of time to connect to the sewer, Sunny-
due to financial conditions at this time. The Board agreed to Field
six months extension and suggested that letters be sent to these area
residents advising them of this extension. Those residents who
have not signified their intentions as yet are to be notified by
the Town Counsel asking them what they intend to do in regard to
connecting to the sewer.
The Board requests that the matter of R. Coman Savoye 's refusal
to connect to the sewer in the Manor area be turned over to the
Town Counsel for action.
Copy of letter from James T. Scriven to Mr. Gay, Selectman,
with regard to collection of garbage was read and no action taken.
July and August reports of the L.V.N.A. read and filed.
Mr. Potter appeared before the Board with regard to Monsignore 's
slaughter house stating that this slaughter house was the one that
took care of the farmer in Lexington and he was under the impression
that the license might be revoked. Mr. McQuillan stated that the
Board did not intend to revoke the license to Monsignore 'taut that
a Mr. Davis was slaughtering at M onsignore 's without a license.
Mr. Potter retired at 3.30 P .M.
Mr. Baskin appeared before the Board at 3.40 relative to the
subdivision off Williams Road. A further r® ort had been furnished
by Whitman & Howard and it was suggested by mr. Lucas of Whitman
& Howard, and Mr. Burns , that the storm drain be shifted to the
other side of the road to take care of the drainage problem. William
Also four or five lots are low and Mr. McQuillan advised that each Rd.
lot shall be individually inspected. It was requested that
Mr. Baskin give us a letter accepting these changes to be made
in the plans , and the Board would then inform the Planning Board
that the Board approves. Mr. Baskin retired at 4.10 P.M.
Mr. Reed, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, appeared before
the Board with regard to extension of sewer frau #59 Reed Street
to #67, in answer to a complaint from Mrs. Peckham at #67. The
sewer could not be extended without coming out of the ground. Reed

only other way would be to come from the pumping station and Street
that would cost too much money. The suggestion was that the
cesspool be extended and fixed up so it can function properly.
An application for a license for day care for children received
from Mrs . Nancy C. Schock, 15 Vaille Avenue , was held up pending
212 tcy
permission from the Board of Appeals to carry on a business at
this address .
Permission to keep two cows and 24 poultry was requested by
John C. Brown, 83 Cary Avenue, Mr. Willard Hayden, 110 Shade
Street, opposed the keeping of cows in this area. The Board
denied the permission to keep two cows but allowed the keeping
of 24 poultry.
Upon motion duly made and seconded it was voted to grant the
following permits and licenses -

Liberty fits . Nursery 21 Butler Ave . Day Care for Children

The following permits were granted September 3, 1953 -

Jennie Piantedosi 435 Lincoln St. 6000 Poultry
Report of the Health Sanitarian for period Illy 17 to September
17, 1953 was noted and filed.
The meeting adjourned at 4.20 P .M.
