HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-07-2193 BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING July 21, 1950 A regular meeting of the Board of Health was held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building on Friday, July 21, 1950 at 3:00 P.M. Chairman Cos- grove, Messrs. Russell and McQuillan were present. Mr. Jackson, Health Sanitarian, was also present. Application was received from Patrick J. Furdon, Furdon 822 Massachusetts Avenue, for permission to keep Poultry ten poultry at this address. Mr. Jackson reported Permit that the neighbors have no objections. Upon motion of Mr. Russell, seconded by Mr. Mc- Quillan, it was voted to grant Mr. Furdon a per- mit to keep the requested number of poultry. Application was received from John D. Polley for the renewal of his permit to keep 3 cows, 4 calves, 1200 poultry and 1 swine at 189 Wood Street. Mr. Polley Jackson reported that there were no objections from Animal the neighbors. Permit Upon motion of Mr. Russell, seconded by Mr. McQuillan it was voted to grant the permit. Further consideration was given -to Mr. William J. Dailey's application for a permit to keep 1500 Dailey poultry at 111 Marrett Road. Poultry The Board was unanimously opposed to granting a Permit permit to keep poultry at this location. Denied Mr. Jackson reported that Joseph Pastena, who pre- viously requested a permit to keep 500 poultry at 4 Hillcrest Street, said that the address should have been 73 Hillcrest Street. No change was made in the Board's decision to deny a permit to keep poultry in this area. Letter was received from Mr. Harold E. Stevens, Town Counsel, in reply to the Board's inquiry with refer- ence to the granting of permits for the raising of poultry in residential areas. It was agreed that a letter should be sent to the Board of Appeals with reference to the hearing scheduled upon the petition of John Mancuso for per- mission to use the property at 87 Cary Avenue for the purpose of keeping several hundred poultry for slaughter and marketing. The Board of Health ob- jects to commercial poultry business in this area. Pastena Appl.
