BOARD OF HEALTH MEETINGS
January 21, 1949
A regular meeting of the Board of Health was
held in the Selectments Room, Town Office Building
on Friday, January 21, 1949 at 3:00 P.M. Chair-
man McQuillan, Messrs. Russell, Terhune and Lamont
were present. The Clerk was also present.
The records of the meeting held on December 17, 1948
were declared approved. Mr. Lamont submitted his
report for the month of January which was read by the
Chairman and placed on file.
Mr. Lamont retired at 3:25 p.m.
The Chairman read a letter from Dr. Robert E.
Archibald, of the State Department of Public Health,
in reply to the Board's letter requesting certain
information relative to death rates, infant mortality,
etc. in other towns of comparable size to Lexington.
He stated in his letter that Dr. Kelley, District
Health Officer, would contact the Board in order to
determine exactly for how many years this' data is to
be compiled.
Mr. Lamont reported that the water used for wash-
ing dishes at ShopRerst haven on Marrett Road is
only heated to 150'. He has called the proprietor's
attention to the fact that his method of sterilization
is not up to standards required by the Board of Health,
but has received no co-operation. The Clerk was in-
structed to request Mr. Edward J. Conley to meet with
the Board on Friday, February 13, 1949.
Letter was received from the State Department of
Public Health relative to a well on North Street. Mr.
Terhune took the communication and agreed to investigate
it for the Board.
Upon motion of Mr. Terhune, seconded by Mr. Russell,
it was voted to grant the following licenses to slaughter
poultry:

Upon motion of Mr. Terhune, seconded by Mr.
Russell, it was voted to renew the following licenses:

Certificate of approval was received from Mrs.
Sullivan, who conducts a Nursing Home at 47 Lincoln
Street. Mr. Terhune reported that Mrs. Sullivan is
not included on the approved list re-;eived from the
State. He asked for her license but she was unable to
produce it. The landlord informed Mr. Terhune that
she was going to vacate the premises by the first of
March. The Board will consider this matter again after
March 1, 1949.
The meeting adjourned at 4:45 P.M.
