HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-10-16Dr. Daniel Rubenstein - resignation Dr. Blakely - Animal Inspector Retirement Middlesex Health Assn re: Free X -Ray Plan BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING October 16, 1947 A=regular meeting of the Board of Health was held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building on Thursday afternoon, -October 16, 1947 at 4:00 p.m. Chairman McQuillan, Mr. Russell and Mr. Lamont, the Health Inspector were present. The Agent was also present. Letter was received from the State Department of Public Health notifying the Board that Dr. A. Daniel Rubenstein has left his position as District Health Officer in the North Metropolitan District to become Director of Hospital Survey in the Department. His successor in the district office will be Dr. George F. Campana. A communication was received from the State Department of Public Health relative to the re- patriation of the World War II dead. No action was necessary by the Board. The Agent informed the Board that it is necessary to appoint an Inspector of Animals inasmuch as Dr. Blakely has reached the age of retirement. Dr. Blakely suggested Dr. O'Connor of Woburn or Dr. Russell of Concord. The agent was instructed to write to Dr. O'Connor and inquire as to whether or not he would be interested in accepting the appointment as Inspector of Animals for the Town of Lexington. Reports were received relative to the inspection of restaurants recently made by the Health Inspector and a representative of the State Department of Public Health. Letter was received from the Middlesex Health Association presenting for approval a plan for a free chest x-ray service for the Town of Lexington. The survey will be available to all residents of the Town over fourteen years of age. All reports are con- fidential and a negative report will be mailed to each person. In cases of special findings the 1 patient's private physician will be notified and the patient asked to see this physician. The expenses of the proposed survey will be paid by funds available from the local tuberculosis committee and from the Middlesex Health Association. The Board was unanimously in favor of the plan. Application was received from Elizabeth R. White, 26 Downing Road, for the renewal of a license to maintain a Boarding Home for Infants.
