Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the April 20, 2018 and June 8, 2018 meetings were approved. Public comment
period response notes from the Public Hearing of May 29, 2018 were approved.
Preparation for June 25 Selectmen's report/presentation
Format—Mr. Pato said our presentation will likely be allotted 15minutes. Mr. Andersen will be
the speaker for our entire slideshow. The slide presentation is planned to take 7-8minutes,
leaving time for dialogue with or response to questions from the Selectmen, to which more
Committee members may respond.
Materials (slideshow) Committee reviewed draft presentation slides prepared by Mr. Andersen,
and suggested minor changes. Mr. Andersen will revise them prior to Monday evening's BoS
meeting. The slides cover what this Committee has accomplished to date, what we would like to
accomplish over the next half year, and requested input from Board of Selectmen. We have a
consensus of this Committee to request of the Selectmen to be given the time and the charge to
do a deeper study to compare Sudbury-type senior means-tested exemption(which requires
Special Legislation) to a Residential Exemption (which does not).
Future Meetings Schedule
July 13, 20, and 27—all at Sam.
Resident survey update
Ms Bothwell Allen very briefly mentioned a few edits to the draft since the last Committee
meeting. Ms Blier reported back on her communication with Charlotte Rogers at HHS, which is
gearing up to do a transportation survey. This may present an opportunity for collaboration. We
will follow up on engagement with her.
Expert engagements update
Ms Cutler listed the many classes of residence experts we would like to invite in(brokers,
landlords, developers) for a round-table conversation. Mr. Andersen would like to have a group
of economists in separately. Ms Cutler suggested that an evening meeting time might enable
easier scheduling with our invitees. Instead of a round-table, we could have a series of these
invited meetings, each with a different focal field of experts, who might speak more freely. Also
possible: speak with invited experts individually in time slots. July 27 was selected as a tentative
invited brokers conversation date. Ms. Cutler will begin planning for the brokers meeting and
report progress on July 13.
Next meeting is scheduled for July 13, 2018 at Sam.
The meeting was adjourned by Mr. Andersen on behalf of the Committee at 9:38AM.
