HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-04-26-BASS-min Board of Assessor's Meeting Open Session Minutes April 26,2018 A Meeting of the Board of Assessors was held on April 26,2018 at 10:30 a.m.in the Reed Meeting Room of the Town Hall Office Building. In attendance: Gregory Johnson,Chairman,Edmund C.Grant,Member,Casimir Groblewski,Member,Robert F.Lent,Director of Assessing, Michael Golden,Assistant Assessor/Residential Field Manager and Sandra Pentedemos,Administrative Assessor. The Chairman,Gregory Johnson called the Meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. Open Session Public Comment Time: No members of the public were present. There were no discussions of Financial Issues including Overlay Fund. Chairman Johnson made a motion that the Board of Assessors go into Executive Session under Purpose 7 in order to deliberate Fiscal Year 2018 Statutory Exemption Applications,Real Estate Abatement Applications since deliberation in Open Session could be detrimental to potential appeal or litigation matters,consistent with requirements and practices specified in the Open Meeting Law Guide. Ed Grant,Member is expected to be a little late due to a conflicting appointment The Board voted,2-0 in favor to go into Executive Session at 10:45 a.m. Executive Session occurred here: details may be viewed in separate Executive Session folder. Upon motion duly made and seconded,the Board of Assessors adjourned the Executive Session at 11:25 p.m.and returned to Open Session of the Meeting. Open Session Member,Ed Grant arrived. Upon motion duly made and seconded,the Board of Assessors adjourned the Executive Session at 12:30 and returned to Open session. Open Session The Board unanimously voted 3-0 in favor of ten denials and one deem deny of Real Estate and approving of the remaining Fiscal Year 2018 Chapter 59,Section 59 Real Estate and Personal Property Abatement applications.Ed Grant,Member abstained from one real estate abatement.(See list in Executive folder). The Board unanimously voted 3.0 in favor of one denial of an Elderly and one denial of a Community Preservation and approving of the remaining various Fiscal Year 2018 Chapter 59,Section 5 Clauses of Statutory Exemption applications. (See List in Executive folder). There were no Appellate Tax Board discussions. The Board postponed discussion of the Meeting Minutes. The Board of Assessors next Meeting will be held on May 3,2018 at 5:00 p.m. There being no other business a motion was duly made and seconded at 12:35 p.m.to adjourn the Meeting. Boarof essors: U 4.
