The original program was postponed back on May 12th due to rain and despite it being held on a make-up date,the event was still a success as members of the Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) and Lexington Police Department volunteered to assist the instructors. • The Battle Green Tennis League and Play Local online tennis court reservation system are both going very smoothly. • Summer staff has been finalized and volunteer placements were assigned over the past month. In total, there are 145 seasonal employees working for and approximately 45 volunteers helping out at Recreation Division programs this summer (Aquatics, Day Camps, Sports Clinics, and Tennis). • The Day Camps, Sports Clinics, and Tennis staff orientation was held on Saturday,June 16th. All summer programs will begin on Monday,June 25th • In addition to the daytime activities,there will be plenty of evening basketball opportunities for youth this summer. The Monday drop-in skills clinics, under the direction of LHS basketball coaches Steve Solly and Reggie Hobbs, have started and are averaging 40-50 participants each week. The boys 5th/6th grade and 71h/8th grade leagues will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning in July and a 4th-6th grade 3-on-3 league will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning on June 27th. All programs will be held at the Center Basketball Courts. • There are already over 300 children registered to play in the NFL FLAG Football League this fall (max of 416). • Most senior and adult fitness classes wrap up this week and will be on break until after the July 4th holiday. • The last workshop in our Financial Foundations education series will be held on Thursday,June 211t. Over 50 people have preregistered for this free offering. • Bubble soccer had 20 participants, we went live on Facebook and everyone had a fun time! • Family Bingo had 15 families in attendance (between 60-70 people) m �'rlll0l� i � � ur • Thomas Romano attended the Lexington Education Foundation Celebration for Education event on June 15th. Nine children participated. err i; u Oji 1 � lij i • A second teen interview class was held on May 301h, led by some of our "millennial staff." Fifteen teens attended, asked thoughtful questions, were highly engaged, and were rewarded with gift cards! NOW G �j rei /nV, / ifl/�y�/d Facilities • The Irving H. Mabee Town Pool Complex and Old Reservoir opened for the season on Saturday, June 2ndThe regular season will begin on Monday, June 25th, which also marks the beginning of swim lessons and Swim Team. • Center#1/#2 light repairs were completed on May 16th-17th. These repairs were intended to get us through the season until the capital improvement project is completed this fall. • The Clarke Tennis Courts came back online as of Friday, June 111. Pickleball equipment has been ordered and pickleball play will begin on these courts over the summer. • The Lexington Field and Garden Club has designed and planted perennials in the two garden beds upon entering the front of the Community Center. They will be adding some annual color soon. • The Conservation Stewards currently have their photography showcased at the Community Center second floor gallery. After the pieces come down this month, we will become the permanent home for some of the pieces. Parks&Public Grounds • The bid opening for the irrigation upgrade project was May 15th and the bids came in within the budget and the bid opening for the irrigation project came in at $72,960 (budget of$125,000). Work is underway
