A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building on Monday evening, July 18, 1949 at 5:30 p. m. The Chairman, Mr. Nickerson and the Clerk were present. Mr. DeFoe, Superintendent of Public Works, Mr. Burns, the Town Engineer, and six other persons were present for public opening of bids for the construction of a section of Colony Road. Bids were read by the Chairman as follows: Raino Contracting Company 170 Alley Street, Lynn L. C. Cyr Construction Co. 303 Market Street, Lawrence Geo. Brox, Inc. 70 Park Street, Hudson James A. Susi 103-107 Providence St. Hyde Park J. S. Tamasello Corp. 25 Huntington Ave. Boston Bid Cert. Check $15,155.50 $757.87 97500 500.00 9,210.00 460.60 11,320.00 566.00 10,760.00 600.00 Neponset Construction Co. Inc. Returned Specifications 32 Minot Street, Dorchester no bid submitted. The Chairman explained that the usual procedure is to return all checks, with the exception of the three low bid- ders. A representative from the Raino Contracting Company took his company's check as did a representative from the James A. Suci Company. The group retired at 5:45 p.m. Letter was received from Mr. Carroll, Town Treasurer, sub- mitting a list of bidders for a $75,000 water construction loan for one year. Bidn received were as follows: Merchants National Bank .69% 2nd National Bank .79 1st Nftional Bank .793 Lexington Trust Company .83 National Shawmut Bank .84 The meeting adjourned at 6;50 p. m.
