A letter was received from the Metropolitan State Varley
Hospital requesting the appointment of Mr. Eugene T. Special
Varley as a Special Police Officer. Police
Mr. Rowse moved that Mr. Eugene T. Varley be
appointed a Special Police Officer in the Town of Lex-
ington for a term expiring March 31, 1947. M . Paxton
seconded the motion, and it was so voted.
Upon motion of Mr. Locke , seconded by Mr. Rowse , it

Votes to be presented at the Town Meeting were then
considered.
Upon motion of Mr. Rowse , seconded by Mr. Locke, it Change
was voted to eliminate the words "Eminent Domain" in Certain
Article 48. Votes for
Town
Upon motion of Mr. Rowse , seconded by Mr. Paxton, it Meeting
was voted that Article 52 be indefinitely postponed.
Upon motion of Mr. Rowse , seconded byMr. Locke, it
was voted to request an appropriation T' 20 ,000 for Snow
Removal.
Mr. Rowse suggested that the Board of Selectmen obtain
a sense of the meeting vote as to whether or not the Town
Meeting would go on record in favor or in opposition to the
proposed race track in Burlington.
Inasmuch as the Town Counsel has ruled that the Board
of Selectmen has no right to consider the East Lexington
Fire Station except in relation to the original bids, it
was decided to ask Town Meeting for a total appropriation
of $75,000, increasing the amount requested under Article 22
from $11,500 to $20,000.
The Chairman informed the Board that Mr. Charles Goodwin
of Coolidge Avenue was very much disturbed because the sewer
had not been completed in Coolidge Avenue, and that money
had been made available for this work. The balance in the
account of $19, 517.24, according to the vote prepared for
Town Meeting, is to be used for the North Lexington Sewer.
The Chairman felt that this amount should not be
transferred, but should be used for the Coolidge Avenue
sewer.

The Board then decided to request that the sum of
$170,000 be raised by the issue of bonds or notes of the
Town, and that 415,000 be transferred from the gale of
Real Estate Fund under Article 30 for the Construction
of the North Lexington Sewer.
It was further decided to transfer the sum of
$20,000 from the Excess and Deficiency account under
Article 11.
