SETFCTTI EN'S MLETING
December 28, 1945
A special meeting of tie Board of Selectmen was
held in the Selectmen's Room, Friday evening, December
28, 1945 at 7:30 p.m. The members of the Board were
notified of this' meeting by postal cards mailed on
December 24, 1945. Chairman Locke, Messrs. Potter,
and Sarano were present. The Clerk was also present.
The Board gave further consideration to the letter
of December 10, 1945 received from Frederick J. Spencer
requesting a transfer in the amount of $291.60 for pay-
ment of two long carriage typewriters.
Mr. Potter moved that the vote of the Board, passed
on December 17, 1945 pertaining to this request be rescinded.
Mr. Sarano seconded the motion, and it was so voted.
LIr. Sarano then moved that the Appropriation Committee
be requested to transfer the sum of $291.60 from the Reserve
Fund to the Assessors' Department - Expenses Account to pay
for the typewriters. Mr. Potter seconded the motion, and
it was so voted.
The Chairman read a letter received from the Town
Clerk together With a bill in the amount of $64.20 for
addressing envelopes and inserting the warrants for the
Special Town Meeting. Mr. Carroll stated that Mrs.
Ahern in the past had completed this work for 3/4 of a
cent per voter, but to have the warrants mailed as soon
as possible, it was necessary for her to include three
other workers and she agreed to allow them one cent per
voter.
The Clerk informed the Board that when the request
had been made for a transfer to cover the expenses to be
incurred as a result of calling a Special Town Meeting,
the rate of 3/4 of a cent, the amount charged for previous
Town Meetings, was used in figuring the cost of addressing
the envelopes and inserting the warrants.
Mr. Potter moved that the rate of 3/4 of a cent per
voter be approved. Mr. Sarano..�seconded the motion, and
it was so voted.
Upon motion of Mr. Potter, seconded by Mr. Sarano, it

Inasmuch as it will be difficult for some members of the Change

At 7:45 p.m. the following members of the Appropriation
Committee appeared before the Board: Chairman Hoyt, Messrs.
Brotin, Newhall, Hynes, Lane, Brown, and the Town Accountant,
Mr. White. Snow
The Appropriation Committee report pertaining to the Removal
Special Town Meeting called for eight o'clock this evening,
recommended an appropriation of 43,000. for snow removal.
Mr. Hoyt informed the Selectmen, however, that the Committee
would concur with the Selectmen in asking for an appropriation
of 45,000.
Mr. Hoyt asked if a sense of the meeting vote would be
taken relative to the UNO locating in Lexington. The Chair-
man informed the group that it had been decided not to bring
the matter up at the Special Town Meeting.
The Appropriation Committee retired at 7:50 p.m. and
the meeting adjourned.
