SELECTMEN'S MEFTING
November 13, 1944
A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was
held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building,
on Monday evening, November 13, 1944 at 7:30 P.M.
Chairman Locke, Messrs. Potter, Sheldon and Sarano were
present. The Clerk was also present. The members
were hotified of this meeting by a notice mailed November
9, 1944.
The Chairman read a letter from Mrs. G. G. Henry
Kuipers, 109 Reed Street, Lexington, offering $150.00 Kuipers
for Lots 5,6,and 7, Block 91, Reed Street, Lexington. Tax Offer.
Upon motion of Mr. Sheldon, seconded by Mr. Sarano,
it was voted to advise Mrs. Kuipers that the lowest
price acceptable to the Board for these particular lots
is $300.00.
The Chairman read a letter from Mr. James J. Carroll,
Town Clerk, to which was attached a list of election Election
workers who served at the State Election held November Workers
7, 1944. Mr. Carroll suggested that the election workers
be paid per hour rather than a flat rate because of the
fact that it was necessary for some of them to remain
longer than others in various precincts.
Mr. Sheldon moved that the Chairman be empowered to
make satisfactory arrangements with Mr. Carroll for
the overtime work of the election officers. Mr. Sarano
seconded the motion, and it was so voted.
The Clerk informed the Board that Charles Moloy,
Constable, also worked all day Tuesday and Tuesday night,
and that on reggtlar.elections he received $6.00.
It was decided to pay Mr. Moloy $15,00 for his
services as Constable at the State Election.
Letter was received from the War Parents of America
requesting the use of Estabrook Hall on Friday, December Use d'
1, 1944, from B:°Ci p,trb. until 10:00 P.M. to conduct a Hal l
meeting.
Mr. Potter moved that the use of the hall be'granted,
free Of charge. Mn Sheldon seconded the motion, and
it was so voted.

Application was received from Kenneth Lima representing
the pot Light, the Lexington Senior High School Paper,
for permission to conduct a dance for the football team
on the evening of November 24, 1944, from 8:00 P.M.
to midnight.
Mr. Potter moved that the use of the hall be granted,
free of charge. Mr. Sheldon seconded the motion, and. 117
was so voted.
It is understood that the group will have to pay
for the police officers and matron.
The Chairman read a letter from Chief Rycroft
relative to one Frank Ambrocey whose application to
Pool maintain a pool table at 275-277 Bedford Street was held
Table over from the last meeting.
The Chief of Police furnished the Board a long
record on Mr. Ambrocey taken from the files of the
Concord District Court.
Mr. Sarano moved that the application for a license
to maintain a pool table at 275- 277 Bedford Street be
denied. `'r. Sheldon seconded the motion, and it was so
voted.
Flowers The Clerk informed the Board that flowers had been
Mrs. Shea ordered for the funeral of Mrs. Michael Shea, wife of
the Town painter.
Mr. Potter moved that the rill in the amount of
$5.00 be approved for payment, and charged to the
Unclassified Account. Mr. Sheldon seconded the motion,
and it was so voted.

Vitale
The Clerk informed the board that Mrs. Vitale,
mother of +oseph Vitale, an employee of the Public
Works °uilding, had died.
Mr. Sarano moved that flowers be sent to the funeral
of Mrs. Vitale and the expense charged to the Unclassified
Account. Mr. -Potter seconded the motion, and it was
so voted.
The Clerk informed the Board that the balance in
Transfer the Law Department - Personal Services & Special Fees
Law Dept. Account as of November 1, 1944 is $475.00, of Which
$250.00 is for Personal Services, leaving a balance for
Special Fees in the amount of $225.00. Mr. Wrightington's
bill for Special Fees in connection with the Maple Street
bridge alterations is $275.00, or $50.00 more than the
amount in the account.
Mr. Sheldon moved that the Appropriation Committee
be requested to transfer the sum of $50.00 from the
Reserve Fund to the Law Department - Personal Services
& Special Fees Account. mr. Sarano seconded the motion,
and it was so voted.
The 'oard considered the matter of requesting
bids for the 1944 Annual Town. Report, and it was decided
to send out the specifications and request bids on 500
copies.
The Chairman said that William Roger Greeley had
contacted him relative to the acoustics of the stage in
Cary memorial Hall, and an estimate had been obtained
from Custance Brothers in the amount of 368.00 relative
to improving the reception of sound.
The Chairman said that he would discuss the matter
with Mr. Paxton regarding an item in his budget next year
to cover this expense.
The Board felt that it would be better this year
to discuss budgets as they were submitted, rather than
to wait until all budgets had been received.
