Ash, Superintendent; Margaret Coppe, Chair; Alessandro Alessandrini, Judy Crocker, Jessie Steigerwald and Mary Ann Stewart The Minutes were taken by Margaret Coppe, Chair 6:00 PM Call to order Open Session Motion to go into Executive Session Ms. Coppe moved to go into Executive Session to discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining pertaining to LEA, Unit A, Level 3 Grievance hearing and to discuss strategy with respect to pending litigation, to return to open session at the conclusion. Further, the chair declares that an executive session is necessary to protect the bargaining or litigation position of the School Committee. Ms. Steigerwald seconded the motion. Alessandrini AYE Crocker AYE Steigerwald AYE Stewart AYE Coppe AYE 6:05 PM Executive Session Convenes 7:55 PM Executive Session Ends and Return to Open Session Agenda Vote on Superintendent Recommendation Concerning a Non-resident Student per MGL Chapter 76, 12, and School Committee Policy on Non-Resident Students. Lexington residents, Venkat and Prya Rangamani came before the committee to request that non- resident tuition paid in May 2014 be refunded and that their child be allowed to attend school in Lexington without any more non-resident tuition until construction on their home is completed, at which time they plan to move from a rental unit in Waltham where they are currently residing. Motion to grant permission for the Rangamani’s child to attend Harrington Elementary School without tuition on the understanding they intend to return to their home at 9 Crescent Hill Avenue by November 1, 2014. The family will provide LSC Meeting 08_11_14 Page 2 proof of occupancy to the Lexington Public Schools by November 5, 2014. (Steigerwald, Crocker) The Motion was Approved (5-0). Motion to refund the non-resident tuition previously paid to Lexington Public Schools by the Rangamani family. (Steigerwald, Stewart) The Motion was Approved (5-0).
