LEXINGTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING

The Meeting convened at 6:00 p.m.
Agenda
1. Dorothy Presser, Massachusetts Association of School Committees, led a discussion on
building effective agendas.
2. A discussion of the role of the School Committee Chair followed.
3. Fingerprinting policy
Jessie Steigerwald moved, and Judy Crocker seconded, dispensing with the third reading
of the Fingerprinting policy and approving of the policy presented to the committee.
Discussion followed. The School Committee is responsible for the fingerprint process of
the Superintendent and some other administrators, the Superintendent is responsible for
all other employees. Fingerprinting is required once of each employee, in contrast to the
CORI process which is required every three years. While the law states that the employee
is responsible for the cost, the Lexington Education Association has indicated they intend
to bargain the item.
Motion to Dispense with the Third Reading, and to Approve the
Fingerprinting Policy. (Steigerwald, Crocker) The Motion was
Approved (4-0) Stewart absent.
4. Adjourn
Motion to Adjourn (Alessandrini, Steigerwald) The Motion was Approved (4-0)
Stewart absent.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30 PM.
