I. Call to Order and Welcome (Rod Cole)
II. Discussion Items
Public Hearing
Jerry Lacey (precinct 6): He has a son at the high school and is delighted with the
professionalism of the professional staff there. He wants to emphasize that the
resource room is a vital part of the high school for many kids.
Phyllis Neufeld (president LEA): We had an unexpected influx of new students this
year. What will it do to class size if we have a similar influx next year? At Clarke in
particular there are too many students.
Dr. Ash stated he expects to recommend another unallocated position for next year.
Several positions will be shifted from Diamond to Clarke.
Phyllis Neufeld read an email from Rebecca Gruber, an English teacher at
Diamond Middle School who is one of the people who will be affected by the
consolidating of positions. According to Ms. Gruber’s email, the change in her case
will actually result in an increased salary expense for the school system, in addition
to unemployment.
The Public Hearing was concluded at 10:16 a.m.
There were comments and questions from the Committee.
III. Motion to adjourn (Steigerwald, Stewart). The motion passed 5-0.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
