EXECUTIVE SESSION MINUTES
Wednesday, February 25, 2009
Lexington Town Office Building, Selectmen’s Meeting Room
1625 Massachusetts Avenue
The meeting was called to order by the chair at 6:15 p.m. as part of the final summit
budget meeting with the Board of Selectmen, the Appropriation Committee, and the
Capital Expenditures Committee.
Present were: School Committee Chair Helen Cohen, School Committee Members
Margaret Coppe, Vice Chair; Tom Diaz; and Rod Cole. Others in attendance were
Superintendent of Schools Paul Ash and Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources
Robert Harris
At 7:00 p.m. it was moved that the School Committee go into Executive Session for
the purpose of discussing labor negotiations. (Diaz, Coppe)
Diaz-Aye, Coppe-Aye, Cole-Aye, Cohen-Aye
The Committee was joined by Keith Muntyan and Town Manager Carl Valente.
The Committee discussed the negotiations with LEA Unit-A.
(At 8:40, School Committee Member Ravi Sakhuja joined the meeting.)
The Committee then discussed and voted on the following motion:
MOTION: To approve the revision of the contract with Paul Ash presented by
Robert Fraser, to be effective July 1, 2009, with the provision that the School
Department be made whole in regard to any resulting taxes associated with
the change. (Diaz, Cole)
Diaz-Aye, Cole-Aye, Coppe-Aye, Sakhuja-Aye, Cohen-Aye.
Approved 5-0
At 9:30 p.m. a motion to adjourn was made (Cole, Coppe).
