Minutes of Meeting
April 12,2018
A meeting of the Community Center Program Advisory Committee (CCPAC) was held on Thursday,
April 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the Lexington Community Center, 39 Marrett Road, Lexington.
Meeting Attendees: Members - Nancy Adler, Alessandro Alessandrini, John Zhu, Nancy Shepard
(Chair)
Ex-Officio Member Attendees: Christine Dean (Community Center Director) Charlotte Rodgers
(Director of Human Services), Susan Rockwell (Historical)
Unable to attend:,Lisah Rhodes,Daniel Palant,Archana Singhal, Doug Lucente(Board of Selectman)
Melissa Battite (Director of Recreation& Community Programs)
The meeting was called to order at 7:55pm.
1. Minutes of February 28, 2017
The minutes from the joint meeting with the Recreation Committee were reviewed and
unanimously accepted.
2. Citizens and Other Boards
There were no citizens or other boards present at this meeting.
3. Community Center Director Updates
• Christine Dean, Community Center (CC) Director, reported that work is being done on the
Summer Program Guide.
• The new fee structure for building usage will go into effect on July I".
• The Golf Course is open
• The Pool renovation is underway and the pool will open on June 2nd. There will be a Grand
Re-opening Celebration on June 16th. A new entry system will be implemented- a card
similar to the one used for the CC will be used.
• Camp registration has begun and there are several April school vacation week programs
scheduled.
• The Garden Club will be assisting with landscaping in the outdoor spaces in conjunction with
the DPW.
• There will be an Arbor Day Celebration at l lam on April 27th. A donated tree will be planted.
• Charlotte Rogers, Human Services Director reported that they have a new format for the
Senior Activities Newsletter. It has a new name: SAGE.
• Trips have been very popular. A day trip to NYC was fully booked and a 3 night trip to
Quebec has a waiting list.
• There has been strong participation in programs and new people are attending.
• There are many Mental Health Initiatives in progress. They are working with the School
Committee and the Board of Selectmen on new programs.
• Hiring is completed and the department will be fully staffed starting next week.
4. Update on Article 20f and Next Steps
• Article 20f requesting funding for a Feasibility Study for the Expansion of the CC will come
before Town Meeting on Monday, April 23rd
• We discussed the information in the PowerPoint presentation and discussed how we can
support passage of the Article. Nancy Shepard will comment as Chair of the CCPAC. Others
may also speak as representatives of their groups.
5. Review of Goals, Reappointment and 2108-19 Calendar Dates
• We will review goals at the next meeting.
• The term for current members will end at the end of May. Members have received a letter from
the Town Manager about whether they would like to continue to serve on the Committee.
• Christine and Nancy will confirm the meeting dates for the next year and send them out to
Committee members. We will continue to meet on the 2nd Thursday so we can meet before the
Recreation Committee meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
The next meeting of the Community Center Program Advisory Committee is scheduled to take
place on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 7:OOpm in Room 237 of the Lexington Community Center.
The April 12, 2018 meeting of the Community Center Program Advisory Committee adjourned at
8:25 pm.
