Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC)
Minutes of Meeting March 21, 2018
A meeting of the EDAC was held on Wednesday, March 21 at 8 00 a.m. in the Parker Room of
the Town Office Building.
Members Present:, John McWeeney, Sig Tullmann, Naram Bhatia, Larry Smith, George
Burnell, David Pronchick
Staff Present: Megan Zammuto
Liaisons Present: Charles Hornig, Doug Lucente, Joe Pato
Members Absent: Rick DeAngelis Tom Dusel, Kevin McGuire
Guests Present: Charles Mmasian
MEETING MINUTES
Hartwell Avenue Zoning Initiative Update
• Megan Zammuto gave the committee an overview of the recent consultant presentation
outlining a vision for the Hartwell Avenue corridor
• The committee discussed the branding of the Hartwell Avenue area
• Members felt that the name Hartwell has a negative connotation in the brokerage
community
• The committee discussed the importance of pedestrian connections
• Members discussed the importance of bringing property owners together to discuss
zoning changes, and to help facilitate a plan for the future of the district
• The committee discussed the fiscal comparisons, and asked if the figures presented were
realistic
• Consensus regarding the future of Hartwell Avenue is lab, which will include less cars
and require less traffic considerations
Discussion of proposed new zoning district, Marrett Road area. Charles Minasian
• The proposed zoning district recently received support from the Board of Selectmen
• The project scope has been reduced—only focused on one side of the street
• Dimensional control changes are no longer part of this proposal
• New uses for this area include medical, dental, psychiatric, office, insurance, travel agent,
ticket agent, general merchandise etc
• EDAC members discussed the style in which to present this new district to Town
Meeting.

• A motion was made to approve the minutes of'the December 20th EDAC Meeting The
motion was seconded and approved unanimously
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 9 50 a.m.
